I play without it on all of my DDR console games; I just think he's unnecessary and gets very repetitive. At the arcade, I just suffer.

Man, I LOVE That guy! His lines crack me up. I can't play without him!

So sad to see so many people hate him.

sometimes he can throw me off, especially the combo lines. i have this problem that when my combo gets too high i start paying more attention to the counter than the arrows.
the cheering sounds usually help, though.
the old konamix announcer is so LAME, though.
the cloudy day line kills me every time.

For me, the announcer is not annoying. To me, what the announcer says becomes part of the song. Many people will tell you when he says 100, 200, 300, and 500 combo on the dot on So Deep.

The same thing with Pop4 normal, I know when the announcer's going to say 800 combo, and it kind of motivates me to keep going on those final steps. The good thing that Konami did was line up what the announcer says with the beat of the music; many times, he'll end before the next 1 beat, that helps me get back to a marvelous or perfect if needed.

I like the original announcer more, but if he was in Extreme, that'd be silly. He just glorifies the sillyness and rediculous fun that was the first 3 years of DDR. Max1 on was more serious and mainstream, so the announcer fits here.

And you guys get messed up when he yells combos? Wierd.

The original announcer really pisses me off.
"Your dance was so great, it's like sunshine on a cloudy day!"
"You've just become a hero!"
"Dance... Dance... REVOLUTION!!!!"

But I learn to not let the announcer mess me up. I faintly hear him, but the music is what I'm really listening to.

Skullman, what's with you and dissin' on Thomas Howard?

He's just annoying and corny. riiight.gif But he does sound gay.
"I'm getting excited!" It feels like he's hitting on me...

The ultramix 2 announcer is so freakin creepy! I left the game on the score screen and was hanging with my friends within earshot of it and after 20min. it just yelled out "NOW SMACK YOUR BUTT". My friends and I were rolling with laughter. But whats cool about it is it knows what day it is because on new years day i was playin it yelled "ITS A NEW YEAR". Post if it said the same thing to you!

Solo announcer was the best
"You're a loser. Game Over"
"Please tell me you weren't trying..."

Anyways, Thomas Howard was the 1st - 5th mix announcer?

I'm gonna have to agree that the announcers a little bit creepy, especially when you finish a game and he says in this swarmy voice "I enjoyed watching you dance."

I like the announcer for Max-Ex. The combo announcements keep me going. Not to mention impress any audience possibly watching.

You're telling me Thomas Howard was the announcer for 1st-5th Mix? The guy who sang Silent Hill? The same Thomas? Oh...goodness.

I've heard about the Solo announcer. Only female announcer ever put into DDR. I've never had the privilege of hearing her, but I'm told she's the most direct and blunt of all the announcers when it comes to failing. I've heard people say that if one is failing badly, she'll even just say outright "You suck!" Now people, that would motivate me to not play. lol. What the heck does she say if you actually pass though?

For some reason, I always screwed up when the announcer on 3rd-5th Mix said "Combo's continuing!" when you got a 100+ combo. I don't know why. And then it kind of annoyed me when after I messed up, he yelled "OH, NO! COMBO STOPPED!"

And I had no idea that announcer was Thomas Howard. o_O Heh, they changed him quite a bit from 2nd to 3rd Mix. He was pretty blunt in 2nd Mix, saying things like, "Oh, too bad! Get outta here!" and "Go home! You can't handle this!" when you failed a song. As for the Solo announcer, I've only played Solo a few times, but when I was doing well, I distinctly remember her saying something along the lines of "Oh, yeah! Shake that ass baby!" She can be nasty, though. She does indeed flat out say, "You suck!" if you're doing badly.

without the announcer it deosnt seem right... it feels... empty and boring. But when you have the aanouncer from max2 he is funny and brings your scores to life because no one else compliments you but him when no ones around.
