Anyone ever tried doing a handstand and spinning really/semi fast while in it? You know, plant a hand on the up arrow, then the right, down, left, up, etc... fast? I'm sorta working on it, but I don't know if it's ever been done before. Hmmm... it could work better in improv though...

Oh, and Z Matrix, it looks good, but doesn't really make sense. You start off lying, then go into slouching, then start gaining momentum, which is all good. Then you start sort of losing momentum, but suddenly you're leaping all over the place....It's good, but its more like random put-together moves than a true routine....but this is coming from an actor, so......... maybe I'm looking at it in the wrong light. I hate to be such a critic riiight.gif , but have you tried those moves without the bar? I know its hard, I've tried, fell, but eventually succeded trying stuff like that. You'd look like a crazy russian doing the crouched kicks.... Go Commie Commie Revolution! laugh.gif

Oh, a 1990? Yeah, I seen it done in a Pump It Up routine (the infamous CAP049) ~

Taka (first Milpitas Golfland tourney) did something really similar on Butterfly (the R,D,L,U pattern) -- he stood on his head practically and did a Butterfly spin with his hands.

My god that man is insane. Never saw anything he did past the Metreon though. :\

As for the routine...I'm with Surffreak on this one. It's a little too random, too slap/knee oriented for my tastes. I like the down-on-the-pad stuff since it matches the song, but I never would have envisioned Healing Vision to look like anything else you put in the routine (especially the bar hopping).

I think the first step to a routine is to pick a style that fits the music. This isn't to say that you NEED to pop to 5.1.1. (two of the best routines to that song have taken different approaches), but if you want to go the road of handslap, you should pick something with more energy. In the past, HV has looked best with either a botty approach (Liustyle) or liquid/flowing one (Fuzzy Hat, John Avawhatshisname). Maybe even try a puppet approach. And memorizing the arrows would also help.

Best of luck on it, anyhow.

I was just like i got to be able to do that. laugh.gif Yet i need help/tips on how to do it? E19.gif

can any 1 here do it?

Popping to a slow song based entirely on piano notes?

...news to me.

my first routine was a botting routine to 5.1.1 double-light though. only because it had the least steps in the game, not so much because of the music.

shawndow: That'd be shimmying, one of the fundamentals of footwork...most people can do it, it's pretty easy to spin with them after enough practice. Check out this vid or this one to see it in action (used for comedy in the second, as it's pretty dated by now).

*shrug* Judging from what I've seen, it just seems like that's been the way that song's been approached. It's true, the lack of notes in the song opens the doors for more "actual" dance than "pad" dancing, which is why it was refreshing to see Dollar Bill/Wendell try something other than popping or botting...not to take anything away from either approach, of course (really wish I had a vid of this 5.1.1. popping routine that got first at this one tournament).

...you could try this very site, as a matter of fact.

Shimmy: This is a good technique that can be done in places where two arrows (i.e. left and right, up and down) have to be hit at once. Instead of jumping to hit both both arrows, then jumping again, simply slide your legs out from the center to hit the two arrows, and slide them back in before you slide out to hit the next two.

I'm not sure which one you're talking about but if you're talking about sliding one foot from one arrow to another. Its about weight shifting properly. If you're sliding foot is the one thats gonna hit the arrow you have to slide it and transfer your weight to that foot at the same time to hit the arrow on beat with the song. Also, making your foot "float" also helps. Holding up your foot slightly off the pad and then tapping the arrows that need to be.

Hope I made sense.

I was wondering if someone could link me to a nice video(s) of versus freestyling with a friend... My friend and I are looking for some ideas for any song on light versus, we tried some made-up stuff, but it didn't look good at all. Any suggestions or links would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

FYI: There is a difference between Versus, and Couples freestyles.

Versus freestyles are done with each of 2 players playing on Two Player mode (same song, usually same difficulty) in order to give an effect of SYNCHRONUITY.

Couples freestyles are done by two players playing usually on Doubles mode (but sometimes singles as well) in which the effect is to create a routine in UNISON.

edited for addition of singles to couples. thanks wendell.

Is that for improvs? Couples playing on doubles? i've never seen that. I've only seen them play on versus. Sounds interesting.
