I play PPP even though I'm a straight male, and no one has openly labeled me as being gay/bisexual.

Lately I've been finding more fun in PPP than IIDX; too bad Nickel City in San Jose has a crappy 1st Mix.

If anyone does label me as gay, well, fuck them. It's their problem for being homophobic and following the philosophy that "girly" = gay.

Ok....we've finally decided what to do. We've bought a copy of the game, so we're gonna have a booth dedicated to it. Also we're getting the canettes or majorettes(they're the girls that dance in in front of the marching band, kinda like cheerleeders' hand movements). Some of the dances the Canettes/majorettes do look alot like para para already, so I don't think they'll want to miss out on flaunting their stuff in front of everyone(trust me, it's what they do best). so we're gonna ask them to learn some dances to display on an actual stage. We're also gonna try to promote the game and get alot of people to al least try it out. I'm sure we'll find someone cause everyone form town is invited so I'm hoping alot of people give para para a shot. Thing is, there's DDR which has gotten alot of attention lately there but I'm hoping Para Para won't pass as too strange casue people are used to moving around more due to the American eye toy so I'm hoping they wonn't be shy to step up and wave their arms for Para Para. Here's hoping E13.gif
Anyone can tell me their comments on my decision, K?

E19.gif Umm I didn't think you had to mimick the on screen dancers... I was under the impression that to play the game you just have to activate the sensors that correspond to the arrows or whatver... like wave your hand in that area... therefore any dance should be possible on it right?

On Freestyle the adjective is to play to hit the arrows, in ParaPara Mode the goal is to mimic the real dances.

Just a note:

Someone recently went to Velfarre in Tokyo on SEF Gold night, the parapara / eurobeat night.

They said it was almost all guys.

So it's safe to say it isn't JUST for girls. The crowd was mostly gal/ganguro/yamanba girls and guys during the last boom, but now It's mostly dedicated people. Also, it was a fad thing last time so tons of people weren't very into it. They just went with the crowd. Now, it's a bit more mianstream and matured I guess you could say.

So yeah. Not just a girls thing.

Ok I was just at Anime Boston this past weekend and I had a parapara panel and there was definitely a lot of male interest in parapara, even at the yoko ishida concert where fans were allowed to dance in front of the stage it was like a 4 to 3 ratio of boys to girls so maybe boys are more into parapara than people wish to believe

Boys that para para are cool (Hi Jayveemon~!).. some of the routines look great if a guy does them.

But yeah, I guess it is marketed toward girls.

Para Para is a style of dance that was popular for quite some time in Japan. The game ParaParaParadise was just to market off of that popularity. Yet, when the dance craze died off, so did ParaParaParadise.

I like the game and I still see some people playing PPP at MGL. Yet, those are more of the hardcore players and most of them are in fact males. Yet, a lot of the game seems more towards females though.
