Wow, I just did a search in Yahoo! for "Hot Limit" and MP3 and I found a version that is this funky, Japaneese lyrics version, has anyone ever heard this one?
I know there is a Dancemania CD that has this song on it, and if there are any Dancemania freaks out there who have the CD, is this the same version? |

Anyway I heard this great remix of Yozora No Mukou. It was a slow version that sounded like it was done by a japanese boy band. |

DDR has a handful of songs that were originally much slower J-Pop songs. Hot Limit is one of them, originally by TM Revolution, who also did the ending theme Heart of Sword for Rurouni Kenshin. Many of them first appeared on 5th Mix, which is when Konami started including music from the Dancemania J-Paradise CD. Syxx also mentioned Yozora no Mukou, which was originally done by Smap. He said it sounded like a Japanese boy band, and he's pretty much dead on there. As I understand it, Smap is basically the Japanese version of the Backstreet Boys.
Some other songs that were originally in Japanese:
My Sweet Darlin'- Version in DDR by Wildside, original by Yaida Hitomi
God of Romance/Romansu no Kamisama- Version in DDR by Judy Crystal, original by Koumi Hirose
Dancing Pompokolin- Version in DDR by Captain Jack, originally (I think) the ending theme to the anime Chibi Maruko-chan, also known as Odoru Ponpokorin, by BB Queens
17 Sai- Version in DDR by Bambee, not sure who did the original.
And of course, there's Sobakasu/Freckles, version in DDR by Tiggy, originally by Judy and Mary, and the opening theme of Rurouni Kenshin. On a side note, the lyrics in most of the remixes are surprisingly true to the original versions, but I have no idea where the line about "I want to knock them down the stairs" comes from in Tiggy's version of the song.
There are also some themes from Japanese TV shows in DDR, but they're all instrumental so that really doesn't count. |

Hot Limit gets points by the random english phrases, such as: "OH, OK!" "YOU CAN SAY GOODBYE" and "IT'S ALLRIGHT!" Reminds me of the South Park where they ripped on anime with the theme songs that had random english such as "LET'S GO FIGHTING", "PROTECT MY BALLS" and "LET'S GO FIGHTING LOVE." Classic.
I'm tempted to buy one of this guy's (TM Revolution) CDs.
I'm still looking for the LONG version that John Desire did of Hot Limit. I cannot find that one ANYWHERE. John Desire's version is more danceable, and of course, the mangled English is pure magic. Best DDR song ever. |

What do you mean they don't count because "they're all instrumental"? Lupin III '78 is one of the greatest, most recognizable anime TV themes ever.
Cat's Eye (Pikachu) was also a remix of an Japanese TV show theme, as was Rhythm & Police, and neither are instrumental only.

No it's not. The LONG version is on the Dancemania J-Paradise CD.

Ah, my fault. Scratch that. I'm not sure what I was trying to say there.  I guess I was just kind of saying that those songs would not have a Japanese version and English version the way the lyrical songs do... I think. Like I said, forget I said that. Make no mistake, I'm a big fan of the TV show themes myself, like Ninzaburo/Furuhata's Theme, Rhythm and Police, and of course Lupin the Third '78. And for some stupid reason I completely forgot Rhythm and Police had lyrics. >_<
I didn't know Cat's Eye was a theme song. Interesting. |

Other then the fact that Cats Eye is on pop'n music 10 (and that version makes my ears bleed), wasn't it in the musical "cats"?

Actually, I think you'll find that the original version was by Suga Shikao; apparently it can be found on this 1998 album of his. The DDRMAX soundtrack booklet clearly credits him for either the music or the lyrics, probably the music since obviously the lyrics are redone in English.
(You may know Suga Shikao as the one who did "Yuudachi", the opening theme to Boogiepop Phantom.)
Curiously, there's a MUCH slower and quieter (jazzier?) version by Chie Ayado on this album that uses the same English lyrics as the Dancemania version, but a little easier to understand, even though she takes immense liberties with the melody and rhythm.
