Well, I have Extreme and Max at home, and the arcades near me carry extreme. My friend and I wanna get into freestyling, but she wants to do a doubles routine. The fact that I'm white, and out of shape, is enough to make me just want to do practice privately. She wants us to practice in public so we can get input, but I'm shy, and like I said, I'm not the easiest on the eyes when dancing.
I've watched some Fsing (Slip's Dynamite Rave, Mel B's BBD, HyperBroken's Trip Machine with the 540 kick), and I honestly have no direction, or clue in where I want to go with this. I can do kicks over the bar, and handslaps, but that's it. Any help as to what songs we should do with what moves? |

Sounds like you need to watch more vids to start with. Some other dancers and I plan to list the top 50 all around most original/inspirational/entertaining routines out there, and you can take copious amounts of notes from em (not just technique, but overall flow, enthusiasm, etc). If the links for the videos aren't working here, let me know which ones you want and I can re-post them.
Also, read more of this thread. Pick a page, any page, it's chock full of advice (recent pages aren't bad for starters). Wouldn't worry too much about being in shape, either - 3 of the most well known freestylers of today take pride in being self-proclaimed "husky boys". As for songs, see how you can dance to stuff between 100-130 BPM - it gives you more time to prepare between beats.
And uh, for the record, S|1p's Dynamite Rave is a mockery of all unoriginal routines of the past that relied heavily on handslaps, kneedrops, and uh, taking off sunglasses. Don't do anything that he does in that, it's all intentionally bad. =p _________________

you were watching Sl1ps dynamite rave for advice? Have you been freestyling for months/years? I suggest watching Hyperbroken and Nao's Butterfly. It's Simple with knee drops and easy moevements,Synchronize, , and they interact with each other. The "Swing your partner do-si-do" was brilliant. Yeah I know, I treat this routine like it was the best routine ever. It was the first I saw, that's why.

No, I wasn't watching for advice, I'm not even freestyling now. I was just downloading movies to get a feel for the different moves that people did. Besides the constant laughing, I didn't know he was mocking other Dynamite Rave routines, because he was the first DR I've seen.
I have other movies like: Jiffy's "On The Jazz", Kit and Mr. Wendell's ".59", 2 of Mel B's BBDs (which is nice, because I kinda look like him, only shorter), Hyperbroken's Trip Machine, and J Dogg's Am3p.
It's not a lot, but...I'm new. |

I say start freestyling by yourself and be comfortable looking at the crowd before you and your girlfriend freestyle together. Check out Dj8-ball and Samantha's Synchronized love. |

Ummm...lots of them are down, but one's I'd like to see soon are:
Tequila - Highs off U
001 - Pink Rose
DJ 8-ball - Rock Bottom Dollar
And that's all I can think off...unless you have some of Mel B's stuff, that's really it. |

But wait... I'm only aware of one Mel B. BBD performance from TournOrochi... |
I think he means the impromptu one Mel did at the Metreon. _________________
