(1). I really want to make some edits for me and my friend to do at our local arcade but I cant figure out how do you get the edits from DDReditMax on to my memory card with a dexdrive?
(2). How do I know what bar of the song im at (lets say on MAX300) if I want to start my song where it starts usuly on maniac how do know where that is in the song, I tried using stepmania but aperently its a little different.
(3). How do I use a MP3 to check my timing on the song, it looks like theres a part of the program I can do that with but it allwase gives me an error, It says I can only use Mp3s but I told it to use the MP3 in my MAX300 folder on SM?
(4). Can I use dexplorer to load the steps or do I have to use another program
Thanks in advance _________________

You can put those on a memory card via DexDrive using PSXGameEdit. myuglybunny wrote: | (4). Can I use dexplorer to load the steps or do I have to use another program | See above. _________________

My arcade just upgraded its 5th to an Extreme a little while ago. The slots were working then (There was an edit for nearly every song it seemed) so I'm just wondering - will the Extreme detect and set up the memory cards by default? I have a few edits I want on there and I want to make sure that the slots will work. I'm sure that if it doesn't, I could ask one of the operators and they would fix it but I won't be there in a while so maybe I could get the stuff I need sooner. |

Stuff like Link Data...well, you'll have to read the FAQ for that. _________________

Alright people, get ready for proof in action, this post is put in 3 relative forums, so forgive me for generality.
First and foremost, I owe complete thanks for the team of Cutriss, Ho-Man, billyjr82, MonkeyMadness, and many others for their contributions to creating the original StepLoader Program. Secondly I owe more thanks for MonkeyMadness and Gadzooky for their efforts in creating StepLoaderMax, which is a graphical version of StepLoader, with more in depth options and control over the edits. Without this, typing the install of the edits would take hours(Especially if you have more than 100), compared to 10 or so mins. Without any of this being done, this arcade and my ability to install edits permanently, quickly, and safely would not be possible. Once again, this is a truly revolutionary program, that I think anyone without memory card slots who want to install edits and have permission from there arcade, would love to use, especially StepLoaderMax.
This is our Machine, and its plaaaain normal steps. Original yes?
See for yourself. (Right-Click>Save as)
Then with a little bit of This...
Why what do I have here?
We transfer the Data Straight to the FlashRom, rather than re-installing Extreme.
Now...
Our Machine has a ton of edits. 107 to be exact.
BMR anyone?
Also, I had a chance to play couples.... on DDR Extreme. This was fun... check it out. (Right-Click>Save as)
V (For couples)
And Another...
V (For couples) - 2
This is all done possible with Steploader, Steploadermax, and a bit of love... The whole process takes no longer than 30 minutes... 20 if you have everything ready.
Once again, thanks to everyone who had put this together, this has been an incredible experience, and I hope to have all 900 or so edits full on this machine.
Any questions, comments, or just anything, leave it here. I can direct, answer, take photos, Anything you de-sire.

If I take a memory card with an uninitialized "AC NEW" link data save and songs edits to the arcade and put in the arcade, should it initialize the link data or not?
Two seperate occasions now, I did this, and the machine just loaded the edits and didn't do anything with the new link data save. I'm thinking I need to get rid of all the edits for the link data to work right, but I'm not too sure if this is the case. I remember getting the link data to work the first time on an empty card except for the link data. _________________

5th Mix and later Link Data (and maybe 4th/4th Plus?) doesn't require initialization. If you mean your scores didn't save, then that's different. You played songs that would save records, right? (eg - Heavy if Challenge is available)
The presence of Edits shouldn't matter. If it does, that might be a bootleg bug, or it might be just the strangest functionality oversight I've ever heard of in Extreme. Try putting your edits on a second memory card - load your Link Data in Slot 1 (or whatever slot you're playing on), and put the edits in the other slot. I believe the slot will be accessed even if the second player is not present. _________________

Wow, no posts since January! I read the FAQ, along with about 9 pages of this thread, but couldn't find the solution to my problem. I have a Dexdrive, PSX game edit, and DDReditmax2. I created an edit file for Silent Hill 3rd in DDReditmax2, saved it as a .mcs file, and put it on my memory card. I took it to the arcade. It did the whole "OK" thing, signifying that my memory card was recognized. I went to Silent Hill 3rd, double-tapped right, and all it said was "OFFICIAL STEPS". It didn't load my edit. What went wrong? Is .mcs the wrong file type for edits? |

first off, did you use the correct silent hill, comparing there are two on extreme, and secondly what header tag did you use, sometimes that acts it up |

I haven't used a recent version of DDReditMAX, but AFAIK, they never fixed the problem with MAX2 songs, meaning you can't make Oni remix edits with it. _________________

OK, 2nd attempt with more edits-
I downloaded edits from aaroninjapan.com, and extracted the .mcs files from the zip. I opened PSXGameEdit, then selected "Read MC Full". All of my save files came up, including the Silent Hill 3rd edit. And to answer your question, it had the Extreme heading given to it from DDReditMax2. I dragged the aaron .mcs files onto my memory card. They appeared, and I then chose "Write MC Full". I took my card to the arcade, and it recognized it. I double tapped all the songs I had edits for, and all it said was "OFFICIAL STEPS". Anywhere I messed up?
Thanks a lot for your help, I appreciate it! |

yes, you need to have the header from what the song was originally from
not from what machine its on so if the song is from 7th, it needs to have a 7th header |

Really? The edits from aaroninjapan showed "OFFICIAL STEPS" too, and their headers are respective. |

Alright, the question was addressed earlier, and I'm having the same one. I'm an arcade operator and I want edits to be automatically saved onto the machine. Right now, I have to go into Test Mode and manually upload the edtis one by one. Is it possible to have the machine save the edits as they're being inserted/played?

yes, you should have an option in the menu that turns autosave on, if you do so, when you play an edit, it should automatically save it, if there is an open slot - Brent |

I would reccomend not to do this.
Now, im not sure if there is an autosave (I dont think there is... Not in extreme atleast) in extreme. I wouldn't do this because edits could be deleted or you could have some ass-hatted edits on the machine. It would be easier to add edits every now and then than to delete the edits. _________________
