That's the pad that's coming with In The Groove. It's ITG themed.

redoctane is now coming up with a version 3 ignition wonder if its any better and i guess it needs a new thread too. Hopefully they fixed all those problems i heard about but only time will tell. http://www.redoctane.com/ignitionpadv3.html if anyone is interested

I'd be really pissed if they fixed the xbox issues with this pad. They didn't mention it two weeks ago when I was going through an RMA process. I asked specifically if I could wait until they fixed the issue and they said I couldn't. frust.gif

Now I have the new ignition v2.0 pad just sitting in the box never used. I'll have to call them to find out the differences in the v3.0 besides the look and PC connector.

i've had mine since december and it still works like a dream. a month ago i bought a cobalt flux and now i alternate between the two. no problems with shadow stepping on the Ignition pad, one weird problem is playing love love sugar on DDR Extreme(JAP PS2) on light mode. i can't AA or AAA it because the Up/Left combo arrow somewhere in the song doesn't register and it's an automatic miss, it doesn't happen on the Heavy Version though E19.gif . has anyone else noticed cracks in their arrows? i love the texture of the pad but these cracks are starting to scare me. the manufacturing of these pads are very poor though, ripped material on the inside of the pad... the pads work well but the quality deteriorates pretty fast. i'm a pretty big buy btw.

Been looking for a new pad since my crappy 10euro ones got ruined E10.gif, oh well they were fine for starting E10.gif

I want to buy a nice softpad ala ignition, just without the expensive price tag that ignition means.
I didnt get to identify this dance mat in the dance mat list, can any of you guys identify it?

This is it:
" Deluxe Ignition Dance Mat "
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?products_id=2171

My idea is to do the "Rychan" mod as soon as i get them, to preserve them as well as possible.

Edit: They also sell an Xbox Version:
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?products_id=4841

Maybe it helps you identify the brand.

Most likely the foam insert is utter garbage. Do yourself a favor and when you order those, also order actual red octane foam from the RO website. The foam is only $10.00 a pad, plus $4.50 shipping. Big improvement for little investment.

If I recall correctly, the RyChan mod is just replacing the foam with plywood. I'm sure there's more to it, but that's just the basics of it.

I believe RyChan still has it in her signature too, so run a search for her username.

That is true. The Rychan Mod does substitute the foam with plywood, so no need to purchase red octane foam.

I think the Rychan Mod does call out for particle board, as regular plywood can splinter and possibly rip the internals of the pad. The Rychan Mod also requires you to be handy with a saw.

Can you explain better what is particle board? (Not native english :/ )
We will get the board from a wood cutting person he will cut them nicely with a big saw biggrin.gif

Plywood, is essentially thin sheets of wood that are glued or bonded together into a thicker sheet.

Particle Board is essentially sawdust that is bonded together into a sheet with a very strong epoxy.

If you look at most of the cheap "build it yourself" furniture around, you will notice that it is particle board that is covered with a "vaneer" to make it "look" like real wood.

Particle board, in this mod is preferred as it does not "splinter" because it is essential sawdust. Plywood, being made of actual sheets of wood as a tendancy to splinter, and those splinters could cut and damage your pad.

The Rychan mod basically turns a soft pad into a psuedo hard pad.

I earlier mentioned buying red octane foam. I prefer that method to the Rychan mod because the red octane foam is very dense and is easier on the feet and is precut. However the red octane foam will still eventially wear out and lose some of it's resistance forcing you to replace it every so often. The particle board should last quite a while longer, and being heavier than red octane foam will help prevent slippage better than the Red octane foam.

The details of the Rychan mod can be found here:

Hope this helps.

How abouts I post here so you see my signature biggrin.gif

Personally I don't care for Red Octanes, I don't like paying twice as much for a single pad as I pay for a pair of pads off Ebay.

In my personal experience, the Red Octane foam didn't help to save the insides of the pad from ripping and tearing, including the sensors.

Thanks all ! you're all very nice biggrin.gif

I understand what you meant with particle board, we call it "conglomerado" in spain biggrin.gif

I find redoctane a ripoff, how can a piece of foam cost 10$ its mad! E1.gif

Another detail: Any idea on inch-> Cm measures?
I searched a bit and it says that 3/4 of an inch is 1,9 cm, which seems a bit slim to me, but maybe its the correct transform!

Thanks again

3/4 of an inch = 1,9 cm sounds right to me, as 1 inch = 2,54 centimeters. Indeed, it's not very thick, but it works very well. Personally, I like the fact that it's a bit thinner myself because the 1 inch hard foam that originally came with pads seemed almost too thick. It was hard to zip the pads up once it was inside. Hope that helps!

I just had my 4th Ignition version 2 pad fail. frust.gif

This one was a replacement from RedOctane and I plugged it in this morning to find it had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM OUT OF THE BOX AS THE ONE I SENT BACK TO THEM! The down arrow doesn't work when a left or right arrow is being pressed at the same time.

According to a RedOctane Rep I spoke to, this is an Xbox specific manufacturing flaw that they are aware of but haven't fixed and still continue to sell to customers. RedOctane changed factories that manufacture these for them last year which introduced the issues.

This is soo frustrating to deal with.

My personal advice is DON'T BUY AN IGNITION PAD FOR USE WITH A XBOX.

Out of the 5 pads I've had, the only pad that still works is ironically the first pad I bought.

This thing you say happened to me too, with 4 crappy flat softpads, but in my computer, after heavy use (one of them still works)

Its strange, i opened one of them and the right and left zones of the contact sheets inside the pads were blurry (they have printed circuits), those circuits were like moved, from friction, but they did work if you pressed them without pressing down.

Straaange E10.gif <-- Im buying a couple of ignition "deluxe" clones, will do rychan mod and see how they work! happy.gif

I got my ignition 2.0 for christmas and it still works great (just has some rips when you unzip it, i used duct tape to tape it up). When I opened the box, I noticed an extra wire. It kinda looks like a headphone kind of wire. Since then, I still don't know what it is. I was wondering if anyone knew what it is for?

That headphone wire is Red Octane's attempt at making the thing compatible with Xbox Live. You're supposed to be able to plug a microphone headset into it for voice chat in online multiplayer, but as I understand it, it doesn't work. Same goes for the whole Xbox support thing. Look through the forums and you'll find many people who had problems with Ignitions working well on PS2s while working poorly or not at all on Xbox.

On a completely unrelated note, did you know that the katakana (Japanese characters) in your sig reads as "minanamimofuyuyome"? It kinda makes me laugh to say that out loud. XD

Yeah, it's flawless on the Ps2. I think that you should try and pick up the 3.0 version. It's probably better.
