I guess another strong argument is that at least for now, ITG is not available at home haha.

Bottom line, the arcade is where it's at. Not only are the pads better ( in some cases ) then most metal pads you can buy, but i also play arcade for the social experience and meeting other DDR players in my area. Not to mention girls.. E4.gif

you got the meeting plays part right, but i don't know about the girls part...

well getting a hard pad at home...having a surround sound......and having a 54 inch TV......makes it as close to the arcade as you can get w/o accually having a machine but arcade all the way from the beggining to the end E13.gif

If I had to choose between these I would pick arcade. But really there both good!! Home is where you can keep your skills up and stay in shape. I disagree with arcade is more of a social thing because I have tons of friends come over and play with me at home but at arcade Theres like 50000 asians who play on like heavy x4 so i get scared there. However Arcade is where you excell in DDR and if you get an A on maxx at the arcade it is worth so much more than one on home since those scores actually count.

If I'm feeling confident enough, I'll venture out to the arcade. Otherwise, I'll just save myself the embarassment and stay home. My preference is dependent on how I'm feeling about my performance.

I wanted DDR at home a while ago when the Ultramix bundle on xbox came out. I bought it and hated the soft pad. I returned it to the store about 2 hours after I bought it. It just wasn't like the arcade. Right now, I'm tryin to save up to buy a metal one with a bar and everything (I hardly ever use the bar but I just want it to be as much like the arcade as possible) but I think no pad or system at home can compare to just the feeling you have of playing in the arcades.

[quote="ZotTower"]I like playing in the arcade because I have more songs to choose from, but I HATE the #(@$'n trick bar. It completely gets in my way and the back of my feet will hit it and mess me up. I wish they'd take those things off the pads in the arcade. That way it wouldn't screw me up AND it'd keep some people from rapefully abusing the bar.

maybe you should get better at stepping on the pad. As for the bar theres nothing wrong with holding on with one arm or both arms at times. The bar wouln't be there if you couldn't use it.

anyways i would choose the arcade pad anyday over the homepad although the homepad was easier to get used to.

i prefer the arcade experience above all, you meet alot of new and interesting people. i'd rather play on a metal pad any day rather than a soft pad, thats another reason i go to the arcade. if i had a colbalt flux it might be a little different. also i just strait up suck on soft pads, which is funny because my friend is good on them, but sucks in the arcade. i dont think i contributed anything new, but this is my experiance.

I prefer the arcade version because there is a more variety of songs that what I have at home, and the song mix at the arcade is the genre I like which is trance, so I like arcade for that reason. And also the arcade has hard pads, which make it seem "real" and it doesn't scrunch up under the feet. And also the arcade has all those cool psychedelic lights.

But the home version has it's pro's too. *thinking* You don't have to pay 50+ cents every time you play it. But at home, I have the soft pads which suck royally for my playing level(Heavy), so I prefer playing at the arcade for the REAL experience, but I play at home for the weekday interlude.
