DDR is one of the only games that i've really heard girls around webster get excited about. the thing is, girls, at least in my experience are much more social creatures than us guys, leavng us more time to study and play more, which accounts for my friends and my superior knowledge and "mastery"(if you can call catas and 9 footers mastery) of the game.
We men often exploit the fact that we are better than the local women at DDR and that we know more than them. so unless theres a tourney there girls flip out when my DDR buddy or I gets an A on DXY on heavy, or the like (mainly Orion.78 am-euro mix)
and don't swaet your rent's dude, if they need you to prove things like target sex of a video game (even if it's a way of life like DDR) then they've probably got some insecurities about the way their lives turned out, and if you really want to prove your side play the whistle song on heavy with them in the room

Me and my Wife play the game, Loads of fun!!
Now I just got to convince my wife that we need colbolt fluxes.
I have 10 neices and nephews, and anyone of them, as long as they are old enough to play, like playing DDR. Doesn't matter if it's a girl or a guy! _________________

The girl:guy ratio for DDR is much higher than the girl:guy ratio for other video games. That doesn't mean that DDR is for girls. It just means that those lazy girls need to get into more games than DDR!
Personally, I don't find DDR nearly as much fun as other video games. There is no plot in DDR, and it doesn't stretch your imagination at all. But, I know that DDR is a much better addiction than Starcraft, or Everquest, or Halo. I've lost 20 lbs with DDR, and have only lost time with any other game.
My theory is that girls have a harder time getting immersed in a complex video game. But DDR is social, is less geeky than other video games, provides good exercise, and is fun to watch, even if you haven't played before. So, it's what they play.
That's my theory. Still, there's nothing 'girlish' about it (unless you play 'It's raining men' all day long).[/b] |

Of course, I must say that DDR is for both girls and guys.
DDR has no sexual preferences.
Even though most of the guys I play with are better than me... lol
I still think both are equal. _________________

DDR is for both. It's just that more guys play the game than girls.
In my arcade, there are like 30 male players and like 5 female players. And as far as I know, I'm the only girl who has passed a 10-footer and is trying to pass other 10-footers every time I go there. _________________

I've noticed that guys tend to play more competitively, and since there are usually more guys thang girls at arcades, guys tend to pick it up at arcades at a higher rate than girls do. A lot of girls tend to find the home version at get togethers with close friends, and usually don't have the courage to be humiliated in an arcade, and guys are like, "OMFG, GOTTA PASS MAXX UNLIMITED TILL I DIE!!!11!!one"
Of course, this doesn't go for all girls, as I'm an exception to this rule. Still, it's a general answer to a general question. |

I would assume the game came out with the idea that mostly young to mid-teenage girls would play it, with maybe a few men. However, i see mostly guys playing wherever i go. I've only SEEN 2 girls do standard or higher (not counting videos). Not to say women aren't good, because ive seen videos of chicks beating the frick out of DDR, but i think girls are usually more embarrased or self consious to attempt something like DDR in public. |

Same here. Besides, it's more fun playing at the arcade than at home IMO. _________________
