I just want to add that I've had mine for about 4 months and it hasn't given me any trouble, although I am awfully light. |

Thought i'd throw my two cents in here. I was actually looking through the index thread for another pad, when i saw this one. I just want to re-itarate what people have said, and totally warn you all AGAINST this pad.
Apparently some people have a had a good experience with it. I don't imagine how that is possible. I live near a local LANcenter that happens to have a few PS2s and Xbox's. They made a decision to have DDR there too, but opted out of buying a full cab because of noise issues.
Instead, the purchased home mixes for the PS2s, and got metal pads.
I told them to get CF, but they saw this pad and thought "they're both metal, and this one is cheaper!" So they purchased 2.
First of all, the arrows ARE bowed up. It comes like this. So when you play you get this horrid "click click" sound. Its really loud and annoying. Also, you can't play in your feet, because the pad will frick you feet up. So you must play with your shoes on, however IT IS VERY CLEAR that these pads were never designed to played with shoes. I say this because the covering on the arrows (the bowed thing) BREAKS so frick easily. It broke within a day. It cracks, and then shatters because you bend it every time you step. Also, shoes will break the sensors. The left and down arrows on one of the pads has been broken. It was within a week of ordering. The buttons on the box don't work, and if they do they stick down.
Now you may think we just got a bad batch. We didn't. After this poopy experience, i tried to convince the owners to either get a cab, or get CF. Again, they didn't listen to me and re-bought another set of these pads.
The up arrow on one and the right arrow on the other were broken in 11 days. I counted. The coverings shatter too, in fact, one of the covers broke in the first few hours.
So please, do yourself a favor and stay as far away from these pieces of crap as you can. |

About seven months ago I bought this metal pad from Fryes and have been doing 1-2 hours a day of fairly heavy use (songs on standard and some on heavy recently). The only thing that has broken was the LED lights (which I could care less about) and one wire in the right arrow. I had my boyfriend solder the wire back into place and it works fine. I haven't modded it at all. From what everyone is saying, I guess I got lucky. I would like to mod it to improve it's longterm performance, but I hesitate because it's not broken yet. |

Okay, firstly, any metal pad is going to make noise.
Secondly, did you even bother to try a lighter shoe? I'm 160 lbs. and I have these very light shoes that hardly dent the panels. As for the control box, I've had no problems. |

Well I've only used this pad once and now the down arrow is dead. Thankfully this was only a X-mas gift that my friend bought off of Ebay. |

I have one of these pads and it keeps breaking.
The thing is, as always, a wire somewhere has severed.
So I just bring out the duct tape and it works great.
If I combine soldering and duct tape it should be even better.
These pads are okay, and since I seem to learning how to repair them more and more I might be fine with them because they're so cheap and I know how to fix them.
EDIT: However the bad thing is it only has four screws. The wood warped or something so one of the screws will not tighten down so it's utterly annoying even with duct tape. _________________

Ugh! DO NOT BUY! i have one and lets start out with panels; broken in half. yes in half. im forced to duct tape them together (go duct tape!). the lights on the side are all out now that wire is cut cause it sux. one of the screws that held the panels down doesnt even go in anymore so now i got the washer ducted to the metal frame. the metal strip on the edge is dangerously sticking out so now im afraid to use anymore (thank god i got a cobalt). And finally, the control box like short circuited and i was forced to make my own control box and had to rewire the whole thing which took like 2 days. Once again, DO NOT BUY
Note: due to bad soldering, i cant use it on ps2 anymore |

I understand this. I have a CF. I have played the RO metal pad. Trust me. This noise is not like that. It is a very, very loud clicking sound. Imagine buttoning a coat into a megaphone. Thats what it is like.
Lighter shoe? The frick? I play with Nike running shoes. If you can suggest something lighter, be my guest. Slippers? Mocassins maybe? And man, if i'm going to spend alot of money to buy a metal pad, it should be able to be played without me having to think about "what shoe i wear." Oh by the way, i'm 125.
I think the majority of these pads are poopy. I think there may be a FEW that work nicely. You must have a good pad. Like i said, for me and the store, this was NOT an isolated issue.
Sorry if i came off a little strong at you. I'm just still get kind of pissed thinking about all the money the store wasted on these. |

I agree. It really IS pathetic that you would have to worry about shoes after paying over $200 on the frikkin' pad. _________________

I actually use these slippers you'd go out to the beach with. They're very light and have a smooth rubber grip on the bottom with the indents being extremely small (they're probably worthy enough to grab a few sand particles).
As for the clicking, that just means you're stepping way too close to the edge. It takes awhile to get used to, but that's how I play and I have had no problems doing it this way. |

Ok, long time since last post but i must defend someone...
i bought this pad (or one that looks the same) from local game store Microplay, it was last summer so i don't remember price or whatever, and there was nothing about manufacturer on the box or anywhere...
but i have this pad and have never had a problem with it. i play heavy, weigh 170, and generally play flat-footed with a slight stomp to mimic my arcade play (with shoes of course). the pad responds very well and you barely have to step. for me this pad is wonderful, and i know for other people they have had no problems whatsoever...
so the only thing i can say is this is a generic model made by different manufacturers to make some extra dough and some have made them very cheaply.
i would honestly rather have mine than the covented CF which i don't like at all even though they are "the best" _________________

I have owned several of these CF type pads since 2003. The first three broke and it became a lot of trouble to fix. Performance has been good though.
The TX-1000 has a tendancy to die via the control boxes (I dont know why?) and the down arrow. Its much harder to fix the down arrow since the wires are stuck under the wood frame! A new control box runs about $10-15.
If you can grab one for $100 or less do so. If you can afford the Cobalt Flux at $350 then dont waste time with the CF. I am saving for that now.
You arent suppossed to use socks on these pads! They are metal! I recommend a good pair of indorr soccer shoes. They are light and have thin rubber soles for a great feel!

I sadly have one of these TX-1000 pads. The 4th day I had it the down button just stopped responding... I was gonna send it back btu then the next day I noticed it was responding. Then the next it wasn't again... I opened it up and what not and couldn't find a problem. I tried moving the main power cord (connects from the pad to the adapter to the ps2) and suddenly it started working again... something it wrong here. When the cord is in the right position the down button works and when its in the wrong position the down button doesn't exzist to the pad. i don't know why this is- oh wait, yes I do, because its a peice of crap! I miss so many steps because of how slow this pad responds to everything and every time I step down I feel like I'm gonna break the top panel. I hate how the buttons are fleded up! I cought my foot under the crack a few times. And I've only had this pad for 7 days! I've had so many problems. Never again... I'm saving my money for a Cobalt Flux. |

I had to take this pad apart just to fix the up arrow... apparently, some of the foil got stuck to sensor itself, and was making it get stuck and stick. I'm defintately saving up for a CF now. Never again will I buy any other pad. _________________

That's the TX-2000 and I've heard bad things about them. They're bad if you buy them off of eBay or in the US, as they're most likely used already. I've heard that they're good in Europe though. _________________

15 minutes. Thats a TX-2000 and is the same as the TX-1000 except the bar and rear attachement (which makes room for the bar). This brand is VERY LOW quality! The steps are no sensitive at all and using one of these, I can hardly get an A on Max3000 just on light mode! So no! Don't get one of these TX-2000 specialy off ebay... get a Cobalt FLux- they are the best out there and coast around the same amount as this. www.cobaltflux.com they don't break and for 6 months if anythign goes wrong, its free to ship back and have it fixed for free. Its well worth the mony. Thsi thing will break in 3 days just as mine did. |
