under the ddr freak dictionary, the entry "573" says:

Quote:
A number pattern which appears throughout the DDR series. The significance comes from Japanese wordplay. Here's how it works: "573" spelled out would be go-nana-san. "Go" is the sound produced when you add yoon to the letter "Ko". Often when counting numbers rapidly, Japanese will truncate the sound of multisyllable words to a single syllable -> "Na". The Kanji character for 3 is a series of three horizontal lines vertically arranged, which looks similar to the Katakana for "Mi". "Ko"-"Na"-"Mi".

did you guys notice that the max combo (jumps counting as 2) is 573? and that the max combo for the legend of max (jumps, again, counting as 2) is 573? i think they did that on purpose....

however, the max combo for max x unlimited with jumps counting as 1 is 555, and when the jumps count as 2 its 600... i don't know about that one, but max 300 and the legend of max's max combo seems pretty symbolic to me.

Yes. Most people have.

The 573 joke's been used throughout Konami, not just in DDR. Several of their shooters have 57300 as the default top score.

The "Classic Konami Code" is also used.

-It is a cheat for Ultramix 1 to unlock the game.
-It is seen in a banner for one of the Nonstop (Oni?) courses in DDR Festival.
-You step to them in Twinbee ~Generation X~. Although you aren't pressing "B, A, Start", you can see the Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right portions in the stepcharts

Twice in Singles Standard (mirrored on the second one): clicky

Once in Singles Heavy (Left-Right steps are 1/8ths as well): clicky

Once in Doubles Standard, late into the song): clicky

Once in Doubles Heavy, styled similarly to Singles Heavy: clicky

The code is also used in the song "Make a Jam!" somewhere. If you've got Konamix, go check it out. Think it's on the Light steps.

Another 573 fact - All Konami's phone numbers end in 573, such as:

Random official Konami telephone number on the back of a soundtrack sleeve I own = 0570-086-573

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Heh heh, wow I didn't know that...I was wondering what the 573 part in the beginning of Drop Out was supposed to mean.
