Percussion Freaks/Master = DrumMania.

Therefore, it's not new at all, as already said. -_-

I just played this as ASI. I didn' realize it was alredy finished and actually in arcades yet. Btw, did you ever get a step that was not eitehr "cool" or "miss"?
It seemed kinda fun, but the grading was sub par. Danford got all cools (perfects) and got an A+, I got ONE non cool step and dropped all the way to a B. Kinda defeats the purpose of haveing an A+ if there is no A grade.

Yeah, scoring on this game is incredibly difficult. Just one miss screws you up bad.

I like the fact that it senses if you're using both sticks for the center drum, as well as if you're hitting the middle or the outside.

Which level do you play?? If I am not wrong.... I remember there are four level in this game---- easy, normal, hard and expert. And I have played hard level 2-3 times, I feel it is a little bit harder to get Perfect (A+). Of course, don't mention the expert level. But, I think if you can listen to the music and follow the tempo..... it will be easier to get A+.

By the way..... I finally get some arcade game location.....Share with all of you to play......

I didn't play because it looked pretty lame and I was too busy with the PPP 2nd Mix machine.

There was good and bad about this. Was it overall fun as a game I would play once in a long while? Sure you bet. But I sure would not play it often. Why? Scoring sucks. Timing windows are so large that I never actually got a single step that was not either "cool" or a "miss" (and this was after several full games.

To answer someones question we played expert. I belive we played what was rated 13 and 14 stars?

A huge minus is that the drum incorrectly belives you are hitting the sides when you are hitting the normal part. It does then when you are as far as 1 to 2 inches from the actuall side.

The double hits are kinda cool.
The difficulity is hard enough that some songs have some challange (though nothing in the relm of IIDX).

Anyway, it was a fun game to dabble with, but I would never spend copious amounts of time playing.

I go to goodtimes in MA pretty often. I must say the game is fun, something that gets you in the mood to play music games. Only problem I have with it, is that the music selection wasn't that great. There could have been more songs to play, I do like the camera idea. Overall, I think Percussion Master is aimed towards the little kids, but older people and teenagers will find it fun also.
Does this game remind me of Taiko Drum Master.

Hmm, I had never heard of this game prior to this post. I dug around a bit on Google and found out the game is made by IGS, a company I knew better for their Neo*Geo-like PGM arcade hardware and their popular (in Taiwan and China anyway) Knights of Valour series. Anyway, IGS is a Taiwanese company, which pretty much means that their games aren't going to be very common in America, if at all. An arcade might get a Percussion Master machine, for example, if people in the area want a music game and they're not specific about which one or Percussion Master turns out to be cheaper than the game customers are asking for.

Other than that I don't think Percussion master will show up in America aside from a few arcades here and there and arcade trade shows. Why? It doesn't look like anything new to me. There's already Namco's Taiko no Tatsujin, a similar game which Namco released for PS2 here. This is a problem that I think many IGS games have. I like Knights of Valour, for example, but to many people the game would probably just look old and boring. Dynasty Warriors fans might enjoy it, though, seeing as the games feature the same characters. Then there's Demon Front, a game that looks so similar to SNK's Metal Slug series I thought it was just a hack of Metal Slug when I first saw it. So anyway, the game is probably all over Taiwan, but I wouldn't expect to find it many places here.
