I have a DMS4 lite installed on my playstation and I was wondering why I cant play my imported ps1 4th mix, and 5th mix ddr's. Also my imported 6th mix ddr game does't play either. these are all my imported games and I was just wondering if the dms4 just doesn't play these games or if I need to do something specal to get it to play imported games. The chip seems to be functioning proporly and I got it flash updated proporly to. any feedback and information anyone has on playing imported ddr games using the dms4 would be greatly enjoyed by me
Thanx |

Uh, if you're making DVDs just a tip:
DVD+R's will only work with DVD+R burners and same with -R's. Unless you have a universal burner you can't use a -R on a +R drive.
+R's are better for general/movie use although most PS2's cant read them.
vhf34, it's more than likely a problem with the wiring. _________________

The site listed under the thread doesn't look very reliable. I have seen many replies saying that the buyer never recieved his or her item.
Also, using these discs, can I burn a PS2 game and let my brother have the original to play on his PS2?
Another thing, can I still eject with the Flip Top mod installed?
Thanks! |

yes to all your questions, and regarding the site if you'd read the past few pages it says theyre reliable other than the fact that they need to ship overseas and they get delayed by customs.
you might want to try a different site that sells fliptops and tell us what kind of quality they are. Sites located in USA will give you much faster shipping.. _________________

It probably states it extremely blatantly somewhere and i'm just dumb, but thanks for the help. |

The first 3 versions of PS2 have 10 screwholes at the bottom. The other versions have 8 (except of course for the PSTWO). Depending on which version you have you have to get the one that specifically says it supports your version (like 8 screwholed tops won't work with a 10 screwhole PS2 and vice versa. I do believe that PS2Fliptop.com have fliptops for every version of PS2, including case mods and open overrides for the PSTWO. Better yet, you can visit either PS2Cover or PS2 fliptop to see pictures of the bottoms of the PS2 versions.
PS2Fliptop does ship things quickly. Just as a fair warning they will send the tracking # email at exactly midnight Pacific Time. Also, they don't have any black fliptops without a push button and their other colored fliptops don't have a pushbutton. I will edit this post sometime tomorrow to confirm if the memory doors are preinstalled in the new one (as well as the white disk)
Reason for the fliptop: IIDX. Mom would have a herd of cows if she learned that I was importing DDR. But that's another story for another time... _________________

well, after much deliberation with myself, i am going for A fliptop & Swapmagic
now my questions are this;
Where do they sell these inside the USA (shipping)?
Can i play PSX imports, not backups, without this "Breaker Pro" thing or a Gameshark?
and how long i should wait before attacking IIDX or popn, and which one first really
Thanks guys.
BTW, my PS2 is version 9 |

The shipping for Play-Asia.com is pretty cheap. First two options barely break 2 Dollars (one was for 1.60 and the other was 2.40). Those are the prices for just one game (Though I should note that I used IIDX 6th style as my example). And they ship the items pretty freaking fast. I ordered a Konami Official IIDX Controller (hensforth known as KOC) form them and I got it in 2 days using UPS (Like what the site said). They are based in Hong Kong, too.
Sorry but you'll have to get a Breaker Pro to play PSX imports (SMDs only work with PS2 Games).
Due to that the older styles are getting more expensive, you should try to get into both ASAP. The lowest I've seen 3rd style go for is 90 bucks, the same amount for a KOC. I have heard that Pop N' Music has a less steep learning curve than IIDX does. Fair warning, 3rd and 4th style does not have beginner mode, you must start in Light 7, the easiest mode in Arcade Mode. 5th through soon to be 9th style has Beginner. 9th style is confirmed to have a Pop N' song on it (as well as 4 songs from Extreme (well actually 5: Genom Screams, bag, Love Love Shine, PARANOiA survivor MAX, and Sweet Sweet Love Magic. Hyper Eurobeat's on there but it's been remade MARGINALLY), and 6th style has a lot of DDR songs on it (including B4U, R3, Outer Limits, The Big Voyager, and G2).
Getting back on topic, I am having an issue with my flip top. First things first I got a flip with a push button (that DOES work) from PS2fliptop.com. I have noticed that it does come with the Memory Card Doors and White Disk preinstalled, but the white disk is too light (It has a hard time staying down when the disc gets up to speed) so I replaced that with the original white disc from the PS2. The problem that I am having is whenever I load up a game (both domestic and Import, both tray load and top load), it makes a lot of noises. It sounds like a mini-motor (like one of those found in the tray or optical lens mover) or better yet an inkjet printer start up and stop rapidly at 3 intervals per second. It only persists for about 5 seconds (give or take) and the game will stop loading. The only thing that I could load is the SMDs. If anyone has any idea what's going on please let me know. I am missing out on a lot of IIDX action and my IIDX 9th style LE with Terra's first CD comes in at the end of the month (if not that then April fool's day (the day, not a joke)). Before i forget to mention, My PS2 is 3-4 years old and the spring box had to be shaved so the tray can come out.
APPEND: I think I broke my PS2 because when I tried the stick the white cone on and leave the top off the lazer doesn't come back forward unless if the PS2 get turned off.
LOMDR
I got it to work once with IIDX 6th Style, but none of my scores are VJ Army worthy (Like maybe more than half the song poored on L7) _________________

Okay, I'm going to say it:
Absolutely DO NOT order from PS2cover.com. I'm on my sixth effing week since I ordered it, and my Extreme Jp is already collecting dust. _________________

well i'm still undecided. I'm now hearing rumors of a fliptop burning out the laser to an extent. I want this thing to last. Now if this rumor is a lie, i think i'll go with a fliptop.
But just out of curiousity, what're these external modchips i hear about? are they any good? if not, then i'll go w/the fliptop and Extreme JP.
So where should i grab mine?
I can't wait till my b-day.
I'll probably start with IIDX 7th style, it's the only mix i've played before (TGA before it got RED, haven't been since they got it. I know, it's like a cardinal sin) and i can't get enough BH! Full Option Mix.
WEll thanks guys, you've been a big help.
EDIT: Friday, March 18.
It's a fliptop people. That's what i want. Now where do i get the best shipping for one? here are some places that i found that are relatively cheap (btw, my ps2 is version 9)
http://revolution-sales.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=81
and
http://www.ps2cover.com/v9ps2coverblackcombosm3.html
or are there other, just as cheap places, that sell it that's reliable. Thanks |

from my experience ps2cover is reliable but the shipping takes centuries as you've probably seen if you read the last two pages.
Don't get anything yet; i plan to take a look at various websites to see what's reliable and I'll try to post it on here when I have time. _________________

I have a question about the HD loader. I read that you can copy the DDR Extreme Import with a JP PS2 onto the Hard Drive and then play on a NTSC unmodded PS2.
Now my question is could I hook the Hard Drive up to my PC and burn the DDR Extreme Import onto the Hard Drive? I don't think the DVD Drives on the computers check the region of the CD/DVD.
Thanks! |

laotus- is it a legal or burned copy? Mine works fine and it's a burned copy btw.
kmoyGTI-Yes you can. Connect the harddrive to your computer like a normal one, then rip DDR Extreme to the computer(use DVD Decrypter). Search the internet for the program HDL_Dump and it's windows GUI program HDL_Dumb to send it to the harddrive. _________________

It is a legal copy, just got it and it has the konami symbol on the cd so its not a korean bootleg or anything. It was new wrapped even with the spine card ect, no scratches ect.
its the only disk i have problem with.
i can play the lesson mode fine but if I choose a song the announcer says great song ect and the screen goes black and thats it.
dunno if it protection but i didnt think that anti mod would effect using a flip top.
i tried looking for a patch so i can make a patched back up but all i could find was a ntsc-pal patch. |

I think I used a patch, sadly if I did it's not going to be on this computer because I reformatted it about 2-3 months ago, which was long before I played. Sorry I can't be of anymrore help.
Anyone else having this problem with 4th mix? _________________

One last question... which is better HD Loader or HD Advance 2.0? Do they both work the same? I read that the HD Advance 2.0 supports up to 200GB Hard Drives and the HD Loader only supports up to 160GB. Then I heard that the HD Loader loads faster. And so far, it seems that the HD Loader is harder to find than the HD Advance 2.0. So which one should I get?
Thanks! |

Hi everyone,
Sorry if this has been discussed before, etc., but does anyone know how well this thing works? This is for the new slim ps2, if you haven't figured our already. Does anyone here own it or have heard reviews on it? Thanks. _________________

well my dad has decided to be perfectly legal and i'm getting a JPS2 for my b-day.
So where do i get one with decent shipping? B/c a place near here sells Extreme Jp, so i'm set on that.
Also, do i need to get a power converter? if so what voltage. Or give me an item name, and i'll go into radio shack.
Thanks guys.
