okay, so get this. A little over a year ago, a friend of mind introduced everyone in our group to DDR. he had recently moved into town, and hadn't gotten a chance to show it to us. Of course, we were instantly enthralled with it, and many of us bought it and got very good as a result. It didnt take long before DDR spread throughout most of the people our age in town, and so now there are maybe 15-20 heavy players in our town of 17,000.
so now, the best of us, including myself, have formed some teams. each 5-man teams, though i dont have to tell you my team is the better of the two. we both have some good players, but its not much of a contest.
still, it could be a real rivalry being made here. i mean, i know all the people on both teams and they're all my friends, but this could be pretty interesting.
btw, say we wanted to have a one on one team competition, are there any generally accepted tourney-like outlines for such a comp? i know i can beat them, but i'd like to know how to be them legit.

pa(perfect attack) tournaments are the generally accepted way. not hard to do. just get a set of songs agreed upon, and do it by dance points. id probably do it like,
perfect: 2 pts
great: 1 pt
good/miss/boo/ng: 0 pts
ok: 1 pt

and if you all play the same songs, no one can complain.

why not just do it by grade? if the grade is the same, then see who has more perfects...sounds easy enough. if perfects are same, go to greats. if the song was AAed, and perfects are the same, go to the score.

Because grade is based on dance points percentage and you'd never be able to figure that out right after you play a song. Just do by perfects, dance points or oni scoring.

yeah, your best bet would just be to see who is better by looking at the points, and not all of that other stuff, you will just confuse urself...

On some home versions, I've had A's overwrite AA's because they were better scores. Score attack in many mixes is also based on where you get the miss (later steps are worth more than earlier steps, etc.)

PA is the acceptable way to run a tourney, because when a whole bunch of people are good, score attack won't cut it. Anything else and you just might be undermining your tournament.

I saw that too, I AA AM-3P, but then later I got an A on it and it rewrote my score... I dont care if i got a better score with an A, a AA just looks better

Hmm...let's think about that one.

There are 244 steps in AM-3P. On a home version, you could get 100 greats and 144 perfects. Sure, that's a full combo, so, it's an AA. But, it's only 79% of the possible score, so, that's a B anywhere else. Now if you got 242 perfects, 1 great, and 1 good, sure, that's an A (well, if we went by the current EXUS scoring.) But, that's 99.4% of the possible score. See the difference?

We were thinking something like this:
3 song set
first person chooses, then second, then roulette (non extra stage is counted)
at the end of the set, count up dance points
Now, that seems pretty fair, but in all reality, it heavily favors my team. see, we'd use an 8th mix arcade machine. my team captain put it like this:
I'd choose a song I can AA and he's never heard of, then he'd play a home version song both of us can AA, then we'd hit the roulette and likely get a song I can AA and he's never heard of.
see, almost no one on their team has ANY acrade play experience. So they wouldnt stand a chance.

Wait a second, are those scores to scale, or are they just numbers, because I don't care where you are, but if you get 242 greats and 2 misses, they should still give u a AA

Yeah, DDREx US required BOTH a high Perfect percentage and a full combo. The US Maxes were the ones that gave AAs for Full Combos.

maxes both gave AA's for a full combo regardless of perfect ratio, but i've also gotten a AA on spin the disc with 2 misses, so perfect ratio isnt disregarded.

Actually on DDREx, you don't have to get a full combo in order to get a AA, it's just that if you do get a full combo it will put a little star by the difficulty that you got the grade on.

If you're talking about the U.S. version of Extreme, you're wrong.

No, you have to full combo it for the AA. If you get too many greats and FC it, you'll get an A with a star. But you can't get an unstarred AA.
