Neon FM

http://www.neonfm.com

The website contains screenshots of gameplay, but no shots of the actual machine. There's a partial song list (20/50).

Apparantly, it's another 5 panel dance game, probably like PIU.

Discuss.

there is a spinning disc in the corner, it MUST be good! E15.gif

seriously though, it would be hard to judge w/o hearing the music... although, i did see freezepop! prety cool.

The layout of the buttons looks awkward... stepping based solely on color?

Looks a little odd, but i'm sure it would be interesting to play.

I'm surprised to see Thomas Howard in there, and I found out DJ Potatoe posts at Bemanistyle. I also hadn't noticed how noticeable JAKAZiD was too (bless him and his MaxX Unity sim).

The panels are Beatmania 5-key style.

Looks interesting. I'll try it out. No pressure sensors on the pads? How awesome is that!

This thing looks like a... yknow what I don't even really know what it looks like but it isn't good.

Oh wait it has DJPotatoe in it? Wow I never figured a company desperate enough to use his "music" if you want to call it that.

A song by Thomas Howard... called "Girlz Buttz"... Why do I find this a little hard to believe?

It's real, sadly. He for some reason does vocals for all these shitty "music" makers. I feel bad for him.

Someone is bitter over the Thomas Howard thing?

And DJ Potatoe (along with Pop'nKO) pretty much made the game, steps and all. They're inhouse artists.

It's for real. I've heard it myself, and actually like it quite a bit.

I like the looks of it, and the songlist is promising. They score major points for including Freezepop. Unfortunately, I'm afraid this will be overshadowed by ITG and DTX. New dance games are definately a good sign, but this is almost too many at once. One of these titles could very well get buried by the others.

Oh nice, an official website. How long has that been there? But is it just me, or are there no pictures of this new 5-panel layout? I see a rather obvious screenshot of the 5-panels arranged horizontally. But how will I have to move to play the game?

I don't really want to make any premature comments about the songlist but I will say this: I'm glad that they explictly stated that they won't just throw in music that isn't appropriate for a dance game.

This has one key advantage over DTX and ITG, and even PIU, however: an original pad layout. No one's tried that in a very long time, and that levitates this from being interesting to being very interesting.

Freezepop and Beautiful Day are bonus, of course. I personally can't wait to play this: I love a new challenge.

Panel layout is BeatMania 5-key. Two on top row, three on bottom row.

Neat, I'm anxious to see this beast in action. I like how they elude to their "boss" song on their homepage. Hopefully we'll see some video of this soon. I wonder if this will be big enough to merrit its own simulator or sm plug in.

Quick question here: What's DTX? I've heard of ITG and PIU, but I don't know what DTX is. I've looked on Google and searched the forums, and the closest thing I can find is the (very good) DrumMania sim DTXMania. Did I miss something here?

Anyway, so this game has a Beatmania-style layout and supports two players? I'm curious to see what the cabinet for this game looks like, very curious. Oh yeah, if anyone's interested, they have samples of some of the songs available for download. They call them ringtones, but they're just MIDI files. I listened to them and I'm not sure what to think, mainly because I don't think the clips are good representations of the real songs.

DTX...don't recall the name; I think Dance TraX.

Think DDR with optical sensors or something like that, and that's the basic idea.

Sorry if any of the above is wrong; it's been awhile since I've seen the forum in question that had that.

No. The optical sensors in Dance TraX are in the pads themselves. Think uber-sensitive (maybe even too sensitive?) pads.
