I just tried it now, and wow...I'm going to nickname it the Suicide 16...yeah I realize there's 18 steps in the whole run but 16 just sounds better. Also, the 16th steps at the end of the song are easier (duh), so I'm going to try those with spins first. Harder than anything else I've ever done in DDR. _________________

That was sweet as hell, you carry your funk style to the pad almost flawlessly. Really wish I could teach my legs to move like that, bending and rotating in unison 'n all...any music you'd recommend practicing to? _________________

why, funk music, of course?
all the old classics get boring fast though when you've been to one too many poppin jams.
the newer stuff is actually keepin me funky now. usher, missy elliot, jamiroquai, slick dogg's remixes and beats.
thanks for the words. _________________

Oh yeah I forgot something..... Clark Kent the freestyler is known for his arm thingy... Where he gets his left hand and does like a wave or something with his right arm.. But he always does it facing the screen! Can someone tell me what exactly this looks llike? |

Uh, I don't know what arm thing you mean - what vid was it in?
He's known for his smooth-as-hell, footwork-heavy routines; ever since he and KidZero were in the game, nobody's been able to pull off that style better. He's teaching hip-hop classes now, hasn't freestyled since CVGL1. _________________

kai: Unbelievable. I could have watched that for like a half hour, really useful to see what real waving is all about. Is there any basic theory behind it that could be explained, or would it just be good to start with learning how to direct/trace the wave with one hand?
"samourai": Read the rest of the thread. For a song like AM-3P, you'll want sharp and/or robotic movements, and for this version, you can work in some ass-shaking/clubbing moves or something to fit the bass (even though U1's stuff kinda sounds like crap and would never be heard anywhere outside of didder =p).
bananaphone: Twilight Zone's actually pretty fun, and repeated arrows are the shit, they give your upper body a time to show off while your foot just taps the arrow (also see: Telephone Operator). Be creative, don't put too much emphasis into the lower body. Light's easy as hell to memorize, but if the arrows are too much, go for beginner. =) _________________

YES
Sync oni Little is my personal fave...song's amazing to dance to.
ObsessedBoAFreak: Pretty sure I can get MSL, but the vid quality is almost unwatchable on that one. Wouldn't mind having BBGYL, either. _________________

first and foremost, always keep in mind that while waving is a dance in itself (or a style of dance, whatever), it should always be icing on your cake (slick dogg). meaning, dance the way you dance, and add waving to what you do.
waving technique is all about isolation and sequence. isolation comes from raising, lowering, twisting, and rolling of joints, limbs, and other body parts. sequence is just the chronological order in which the illusion of energy moves throughout your body (forming the illusion of a sequential wave moving around).
slow and steady, with lots of practice--over and over and over, in all directions. thats how you get good at waving.
creativity in waving...well, thats a whole 'nother thread. _________________

um, yeah, freestyle tips for people just getting into it.
click my siggy R3 Freestyle thing.
1.COSTUME: If you want a costume, make sure it goes to the song. I once saw a dude wearing an exterminator outfit to Boom Boom Dollar. No.
2.PROPS: If you absolutely have to have props, don't make it retarded. It HAS TO GO TO THE SONG, or at least not make someone say "Hey, why is he doing THAT?" I went with a katana, not exactly perfect for the song, but no one questioned it either.
3.MOVEMENT: Make sure your always moving, unless it's part of your routine. If you don't start actually moving until the arrows show up, you look really dumb. Take advantage of that 2-10 seconds and freestyle the crap out of it, and unless you intentionally wanna look like a robot, move FLUIDLY.
Thank, you and gooday.
BTW: Yes, I'm 14, and yes, I know I look young in that video. |

ma·trix walk P Pronunciation Key (mtrks wôk)
1. A 'freestyle' move coined in Dance Dance Revolution that gets practitioners banned from arcades and disqualified from tournaments all over the world.
2. A jumping motion in which an idiot puts their foot/feet on the DDR cabinet's glass face while using [usually] one hand on the bar to balance themselves. Thus creating a 'move' in which one seemingly walks on a wall [or, a ddr machine, in this instance], giving this 'move' a Matrix (R) 'esque feel to it. _________________

So in short the idiot freakin leaves his damn footprints all over the screen all wall and let me guess.... When the person lands he lands hard on the arrows... Whoever made that stupid move should be thrown in a insane aslyum. _________________
