In a press release, RedOctane announced that it is publishing a new video game in Spring 2005. This should be interesting, since it is a new business area they are entering. _________________

IIDX copycat.
The Rave Discman is the ONLY item that really isn't selling well for them, besides the PiU controller, and Andamiro is creating a ppad to sell with PiU soon, so they wouldn't be stupid enough to create a copy cat just so they can get sued. They want to start making a profit with the Rave Discman. I'm almost certain they've decided to create an IIDX copycat.
Chewie out
p.s this is based on the idea that they are a completely music based company.
pps lets hope that It is, and Konami sees an IIDX market could work here. I can't wait. |

No...I've been using their 2.0 DS nicely, taking it to my friend's house where I can UltraMix2 with it!
And I just ordered a USB adapter from them, and it works great. _________________

A few months back they had a survey link from their main website. I decided to take it because I had nothing better to do. It asked questions pertaining to a rhythm/dance game and asked what factors made the game fun (difficulty, music, etc.). I answered music of course. I believe it mentioned a game available in March as well, though I could be incorrect on that point. So my guess would be a ddr-esque simulator. |

When I first read this I thought the game would be some kind of Bemani knockoff, too, but then I thought about it a little more. Red Octane only said they're going to publish games, not develop them. They may develop games, I'm not ruling out the possibility by any means, but personally I think that means they could just be picking up random properties and releasing them here. This could be good or bad. They might pick up some overlooked gem or quirky game from a small company, domestic or foreign, that no one would've bothered to publish otherwise, or they might just bring out some mediocre or bad games that were probably better off left unpublished. |

this is really cool. i wonder what type of game it will be cause i rember some sorta online survey that you could answer it was on the newsletter. it will be interesting put it that way. i think like Kunio573 said maby its some little known games. maby like fresh games from a little while back. or maby they are gonna itg. hmm possibilities. what ever happens im almost certian that eb games will carry it cause they carry a lot of re octanes products like the drum thingy and the ignition pads. _________________

Is anyone concerned that Red Octane is sticking their noses in too many different "core" businesses? The original service, the rentals, is facing stiff competition from Game Fly. I like RO's better because they allow imports which I think really helped the rhythm game on this side of the pond.
I like the accessories too, and the push to get their products in the stores is a natural progression.
But with software, hardware, and rental businesses, I'm worried the expansion is too fast and they'll have to cut back later like so many overly ambitious companies do. |

Great, this will follow as most announcements go. First the, I WONDER IF THIS GAME WILL HAVE XXXXX SONG IN IT, promptly followed by the I CANT BELIEVE RED OCTANE IS MAKING A DDR RIP OFF WITH BRITNEY SPEARS COVER SONGS IN IT THATS SO STUPID I WISH THEY WOULD HAVE JUST GOT THE RIGHTS FROM KONAMI TO PUT SAKURA IN THEIR MIX MAN THAT WOULD RULE. Wonderful. |

Could they POSSIBLY be working with Roxor to bring In The Groove to the PS2/Xbox?
Hey, I wouldn't mind a IIDX "clone" for US PS2. |

I'm wondering if this post was overlooked.
I also posted this on Bemanistyle, but my hopes is that RO will publish games in Japan here that Konami won't release here (i.e. IIDX, since they DO have knock-off controllers, and CAN make actual IIDX controllers if they chose; they make joysticks, why not IIDX controllers?). Think: Mastiff.
And yeah, this doesn't necessitate that RO will MAKE games. _________________

If they are talking about a new video game, it could be just about anything. It wouldn't even have to be a dancing game. _________________

I think it's HILARIOUS how the game has E-ROTIC songs in it and they have little kids playing them at SCHOOL. (Even though the songs themselves are VERY tame, but still!)
I declare E-ROTIC for US PS2 DDR 2005!!! Woo!!
(Whatever!)

I don't see Roxor just handing over ITG without their name on it somewhere.

Publishing - to help a game company port their game to a console system or to help the game company in general to get their game working on console systems
Dude... this thread specifically stated that RedOctane was going to start PUBLISHING games, not CREATE THEM. The article I just posted said that Red Octane was providing In The Groove to those students, meaning that RedOctane's first game they are pUBLISHING is In The Groove. ROXOR wouldn't just throw their game over to someone else, and the journalist probably didn't know that it was made by ROXOR, or that it was even a port of the arcade version.
I can't beleive someone would be so slow as to just totally throw off that article as false news. ~~; _________________

Not a shock, it was already what I thought. I'll be sure to pick it up if there is an edit mode! If it doesn't, then I am not touching this with a 10 foot pole. |

So we're fairly that it's ITG? I'd buy it in an instant if my current (non-RO) pad would work with it... |
