What do you guys recommend? 4th mix or 5th mix for the Japanese console? I'm going to buy either of those, and I like them both equally. I just kinda need some help deciding.

Egh.

Why does the import DDR Extreme keep asking me a series of questions over and over and no matter what I select it never stops asking me these same set of questions..?? It won't let me play..

I finally got my Japanese Playstation. And I've ordered 2nd ReMix, 3rd Mix, and 4th Mix. I had to go to Gamestop though to get a U.S. AC adapter.

Hey does anyone know what the SUPPORT DDRMAX and SUPPORT DDRMAX2 do in DDR EXTREME JAP? I have both US versions of MAX and MAX2 and when I turn those options on it seems to read the mem card and find them but it doesn't affect the game at all! I even tried it with the JAP MAX and MAX2 savegames and it didn't work at all....

Anyone tried this?

The support feature unlocks all the songs etc on the Japanese versions only. If you already have a save data on that card then it will completely unlock that save.

I finally ordered a japanese PS2 and now I would like to know of all the import DDR games, which ones are your favorites. Also, I have heard before that 4th and 5th mixes are very good psx titles. Do they work on the new PS2's? Your input is greatly appreciated. E1.gif

A JPS2 will play JPS2 and JPSX games no problem. They have an advantage over the second best option, the fliptop lid, because they can play JPSX games without additional hardware.

Japanese games include:
DDR 1st, 2nd, 3rd mix, as well as the 2nd Mix Club Appends vol. 1 and 2- these are much too old to really bother with. The vast majority of good songs on these mixes appear elsewhere, and with all the rest of the ground you now have to cover, these should be at the end of your priority list, if they're even on it.

DDR 4th, 5th, and Extra Mix- Getting better... 4th and Extra were the basis for Konamix' engine (though presumably with less bugs) and 5th was the prototype for the Max engine. Also, Extra Mix's announcer is a girl with poor Engrish skills. ^_^ Still, though... unless you really need the licences from these games, keep moving. Remember, the Japanese mixes repeat songs intelligently; there are few, if any, KOs that aren't on the PS2 yet. (Maybe that crap from the Club Appends, but...)

DDR Max, Max2, Extreme, Party Collection- DDR moves to the PS2, and good times are to be had by all. The priority order here is Max2/Extreme, the other, PC, Max, unless (again) you absolutely love licences. Extreme has 111 songs, and Max2 is built around Oni mode, and this makes these games very popular among importers. The other two depend more heavily on their licences. Keep it clear in your mind that this Max2 is NOT the Max2 you played on American PS2. The differences may surprise you.

DDR Festival- Festival, which nobody saw coming, is a Japanese mix designed around giving the Japanese what the Americans have been playing for months now. KOs premiering in America are hardly uncommon, but there have been so many since Party Collection was released that the songlist is almost entirely taken from Extreme US and Ultramix. Every new KO from Ultramix 1 and the first six songpacks are here, most with new steps (or properly synced, at least) and for considerably less than $5 a shot. Of course, there's still new stuff here for players who have already played all the American games.

My personal favorites are Max2 JP and Festival.

I have a few questions about 2nd Mix for dreamcast. Is it possible to change the speed of the arrows? Its a real pain trying to figure out when to step when all the arrows are the SAME COLOR...... ugh.

If you can change the color of the arrows so that theyre different depending on the beat or whatever, or if you can change the speed, id really appreciate it if somebody would help me out on how to figure it out. Thanx.

Is there a way to make nonstop mixes that are longer than four songs on Extreme JP?

depending where your room is you can use your dryer outlet without an adapoter unless yoru house is ultra new

untill aobut two or three years ago wryers ran on 2220~240 RMS like japan does and due to the uniform standards of voltaged outlets have the same type jack

Whoa, there. Don't try plugging a JP PS2 into a dryer outlet. The Japanese power grid typically transmits 100V to outlets, not 220V. The US standard is 110-120, but they're close enough to work without conversion. Also, Japanese and American electronics use the same plug shape, so you should be good to go by just plugging it in. For more information, you might want to check out this list of international power standards.

Hey-

Not sure if this is totally on topic but here goes:

I just finished my second order with www.liksang.com and I would like to recommend them to anyone looking for the JAPANESE DDR games. THey have free shipping on all of the DDR games. They have Party Collection, Extreme, Festival.

Hope this helps someone looking to buy one of these!
