I have the 8th Mix announcer installed on my StepMania and he's been getting really annoying while I am playing. Can I turn off the announcer while I'm playing without deleting those sound clips? Like, for example, is there a way to rewrite the coding to skip those sounds?

Go to Options->Appearance Options->Announcer. Switch it to OFF.

If you figured out how to enable it (since you have to anyways, it doesnt autoenable when you install it), then you should know how to disable it.

EDIT: BTW, there is a sticky for these types of questions:

The only way to what you want to do would be to delete the individual files for in-game announcements. Shouldn't be too hard to do, just go into the announcer's directory and delete anything that starts with "Gameplay".
