Yes, that helps - thanks!
As it happens, I was given DDRMAX today, and promptly found Exotic Ethnic - but it turns out that DDRMAX has no Beginner level! What's up with that?!
I appreciate the advice to move up to Light, but when you say it's not extremely difficult, I have to point out that you're speaking from the viewpoint of someone who can get As and Bs on Heavy!
Beginners always get a beat in between one square and another. I use that beat to have both feet in the center, so for me getting to every square starts from the middle. To do Light, you have to be able to switch from square to square without centering. You can't even count on using the same foot for the same square each time.
It may not involve much more in the way of motion, but it's a way of thinking-with-my-feet that I haven't licked. I've tried, but most times habit takes over and I end up trying to do the song double-time so I can make the moves the Beginner way. In any case I generally fail.
I also figured out why I wasn't unlocking anything: no memory card. That got rectified today too, and I now have 321stars, which was another I enjoyed at the arcade - yay!
Thanks again. |

Word. My name is Ben Langston...I haven't been playing ddr as long as most people, but I play a lot...so I'm pretty decent. I can beat all the songs and AA a good number of them (at arcade...home is a lil easier). My main thing is, I probably won't ever be the national DDR champ or anything, but I really love the game and it's great excercise...and heck, if I can beat the crap out of some loud cocky people on the way, cool. E-mail me ([email protected]), message me, whatever. I just love DDR! |

lets see, i love numbering responses
1.) glad i helped
2.) i believe theres no beginner mode because DDRMAX was not made for beginners...
3.) i notice that i had made a little bit of an uninformed comment...but i think that if you start playing light and just keep it in your mind not to put your feet back in the middle, youll be playing better in no time
4.) if you really have trouble with putting your feet back, i would play a song in training mode, and put it on a very slow speed, that way you can just consciously think of keeping your foot on the arrow and still have time to consider your next moves |

Thanks again. Slowed-down Training Mode is a good idea. (That's something else you apparently can't do without a memory card.)
DDR on! |

Hey, I recently joined this forum and thought I'd do a little intro.. then again that's what this thread is here for. Anyway..
I'm living in Florida, I've been playing ddr since it came out. I tend to randomly get Captain Jack songs stuck in my head
I'm kind of crazy.. in that "Fun to be around" kind of way. I have a facination with all the ddr games.. my hard earned money goes into getting better at it.
Anyway, on a more personal note..
I'm 22 and have a lot of interests.. like cars, motorcycles, anime, and other video games. |

Hello everyone, the name is Katie. I've been addicted to DDR a year and two months now. I haven't really tried to play in public but it seems frightening ( *Is a wuss* ). I've only played at the arcade once. I play -every- day when I come home from school. I'm fourteen and I'm a freshaman at Sullivan South. I have Konamix for the PS and I just got a metal pad last night. It's not really mine but I get to keep it for about three months.. If I'm lucky. Anywho, I'm able to play on heavy.. On my PS I can A some standards and B most heavy songs. I have noticed that at the Arcade it's much easier to get A's and AA's then it is to get an A on my game. O well. I'm having troubles with cross overs.. Evil things. So that's me.. If you have any questions just ask. |

Hey guys my name is Brent I'm from Klamath Falls Oregon. I'm a big DDR fan, though I've only been playing seriously for about 3 months I can only do a 7 step in heavy or challenge...I do have a couple AA on standard though.......
Hey if anyone here is from Ore, come down to the Epicenter and I'll be glad to dance with you... _________________

Hello everyone, it's been a long time since I've been to this boards... I just came in tonight to find some tips on some of the hard US Extreme's Missions (some have me tearing my hair out). Then I tried to see if my username's still valid in these boards. Lo and behold it still is, so I decided to post, and participate in these boards more often now.
Even though I might be a "basic" member, I've done a lot of work on my DDR skills for the 2 year hiatus I've been on. None of you will remember me, but oh well. I'm a heavy-ist, but I can also freestyle. People claim I'm the best freestyler around the arcade, but that's just around where I live... I know I'm not the best... I've collected DDR Max and Max 2, and obviously US Extreme. Someday, I'm looking forward to buy my own machine! I've done some work to AA a handful of songs on Max, Max 2, and Extreme, and I hope to someday master them all! Hopefully I will do that... For now, I'll just play and have fun! _________________

Hey everyone, I'm Rachel from the Twin Cities area, MN. I'm 16 (well, in March I will be, but close enough) and I've been playing DDR since this past christmas. I play everyday after school and before I go to bed and I just got a metal pad on valentines day. I also am interested in graphic design, writing, drawing, photography, video games, etc. Anyway, glad to be here! |

I guess I should introduce myself for my very first post. I've actually been coming to this site before DDR Ultramix for the Xbox came out. I guess that was over a year ago. I signed up but never received the confirmation email so that account is inactive and was too lazy to sign up again. Now I have DDR Ultramix 2 and 3 Konami dance pads. I might eventually get metal pads but these will do right now. |
