So I've been reading a lot on here recently, and the consensus seems to be that DDR Max 2 (for ps2) is more difficult than DDR Extreme. Am I the only one that begs to differ? I've only been playing since Christmas, but I got DDR Extreme first and then we just got Max 2 about 2 weeks ago. I'm passing just about every 6 or 7 footer on max 2 and not on extreme. Personally I feel like the songs on Max 2 are easier (not to mention....is it me or are the songs a lot more fun on Max 2?). I've only passed a select few of heavy 6 footers and under on extreme. I think Extreme is much harder.

Is it just me? E19.gif

I'd be reliving memories I never had... hahahaha...

I didn't spend a lot of time with it, but I felt like a lot of the new songs on Extreme were pretty retarded, with steps that didn't fit well. So that would make them seem hard.
Since I'm kinda bored, let me compare the 7 footers in each mix... first the ones in Extreme from older mixes:

Love Sugar is easy as long as you can read jump streams.
.59 can be a little tricky if you're not good at those little skippy gallops
A Stupid Barber, haven't played much, but don't remember it being tricky
Ecstasy is easy once you know where the pauses are
Firefly is pretty easy
Highs Off should be an 8
I'm For Real has a goofy rhythm to it
JaneJana is easy as long as you're comfortable with long streams
Kick the Can is very easy
La Senorita is tought for a 7, mostly because of the speed
Make it Better has retarded steps, which makes it too annoying to be considered easy
Miracle should be an 8
Moba Moga is pretty easy once you get familiar with the cadence of the steps
On the Jazz has a really annoying rhythm to it that can make it hard
Only You is very easy
Peace Out has nothing too tricky in it
Scorching Moon is ok once you get used to the cadence of those left/right/left/right jumps
So In Love is pretty easy
Wonderland can be hell if you're not good at crossovers, or "the funnest song ever" if you are good at crossovers.

Compared to the Max2 7 footers:
A Little Bit of Ecstacy as a funky rhythm and a speed change, but the footwork is easy
Busy Child is easy
Celebrate Nite is very tough for a 7
D2R is also really tough for a 7
Destiny, at the risk of getting repetitive, can be tough if you're not good at skips
Dive can be tough because of the 8th notes into jumps
Do it Right is very easy
Don't Stop has very easy footwork, but the rhythm of the steps in the middle make no sense at all to me
Dream a Dream is very easy
Feeling of Love is pretty easy
Heaven is very easy
I Was the One is very easy
Kind Lady is very easy
Long Train Running should be an 8
Love at First Sight is pretty easy
Secret Rendezvous is a song most people hate, and for good reason
Silent Hill is pretty easy
Still in My Heart has footwork that doesn't flow that great, so it's not that easy
Take Me Away: Spin gallops? Give me a break!
Shining Polaris is very easy
The Whistle Song should be an 8
Tomorrow Perfume is very easy
Will I is very easy

So, when you compare the two, you're right, Max2 has a lot of 7's that I would call very easy... but a lot of these were Max2 exclusives. If you discount those, I think the comparison would look pretty even.

LOL, glad I wasn't the only one though some songs were under rated laugh.gif
Love Wonderland. I love the steps. So I guess I love Crossovers??
I don't think Jane Jana is easy. So off beat...

I don't think Kind lady heavy is easy in Max 2. I think Kind Lady challenge is easier!! Love that steps E15.gif

Either that, or you love to do that little two-step doublestep jig that people who don't do crossovers are forced to do E4.gif

Only one I've passed so far at the arcade

I tried some yesterday at home; got some D's and only failed 1 - I'm almost there...

But thanks for this list. I'm taking it tonight to see if I can get any of them.

Hey AuntieM, how did you do?

I think I’m hooked on arcade. I want to go… but I only went once last weekend. I go to gym every Sunday morning and go to food shopping every other Saturday morning. I’m thinking I may go to arcade this Sunday instead of gym. I like going to arcade early before all the little kids get there….. I’ll go to gym Saturday afternoon or something (this is food run weekend)… When you shuffle your schedule according to DDR time, which means…

I'm 21. I'm older than most people that normally play (mostly jr high/high school asian kids).

I don't look 21 though, I find it funny when security guards card me for the curfew law here (18 and under must be accompanied by parent or must leave at 9 PM).

I was on a machine one time and I was walking off with a beer in my hand and some guards were carding a bunch of kids in front of me and I happened to get caught up in the mix. And one of them says to me
'where's your folks at?'
'Oh, I'm here with my dad, Sam Adams =holds up beer=

OK, just want to say now that being and old DDR player is definitely fun because............

you get to take the train in all by yourself from out in the sticks and walk around the famous city for an hour then play DDR for hours and then get out and see the once-in-a-lifetime art installation in Central Park and then drag yourself back to your in-law's house and try not to move too much because your legs are so dead.

That makes a visit to the in-laws worth it.

That's the best kinda visit... where you hardly see them at all E4.gif

Speaking of "dead legs"... tonight I was watching a movie with Derek, and all of a sudden I had to bolt out of my chair... major spasms in my calf and foot, out of nowhere. That's something new... I guess sitting for an hour on a train, after a couple of hours of DDR and a 20 minute speed-walk back to Grand Central, wasn't a good thing erm.gif

AuntieM, I am so jealous that you got to see the Christof (sp?) installation in Central Park. I saw a news story about it just yesterday.

Slowpoke, More potassium or drink sports drinks after that much DDR/walking. I have on occassion woken up with calf cramps and those are no fun. Hope your legs feel better.

Thanks.. you're right, during the week when I play, I always grab a 32oz'er of Gatorade on the way back to the office... but tonight, between rushing for the train, and then rushing back out for dinner, I was at the mercy of the restaurant's soda fountain. Anyway, it feels fine now... it was pretty much just 15 seconds of agony followed by 10 minutes of discomfort, followed by 5 minutes of cursing about how old age sucks E4.gif

I can't tell you how otherworldly it was to be exhausted after a few hours of playing (though I swear I must have only played a few times, between that and the walking around for hours I was beat) the sun setting, and those lines of gates transforming the park. It felt surreal - in a serene sort of way.

But I paid for it a la Slowpoke, though not as bad - I'm walking like an old lady today. I swear, I haven't been this sore since I lifted weights when I was a mere tad. E4.gif

So I have to say the old person thing is not bothering me as much, but then again - Slowpoke is much older than I am. E15.gif

Luckily I'm all better today... we just got through playing... I'm beat, but it's a "normal" kinda "beat".

Well, got back in the saddle yesterday with some excellent new accomplishments (see accomplishments thread if you actually care), but the old-person related thing is: I forgot that more exercise of the same muscles can actually ease away those lingering aches. So ironically enough, I now feel much better after playing for an hour yesterday. riiight.gif
