Weird question but what is the approximate weight of a DDR machine?
...besides really heavy... _________________
Call it DDR! Call it ITG! Either way, it still taste like chicken.
Konami created it (DDR), RoXoR perfected it (ITG), and we should all respect them equally. |

Do you mean total weight or the weight of each piece of the machine? (I'm talking about the pads versus the speakers or the monitor.) Because it seems to me that each of the pads would weigh anywhere from 150-175 lbs. simply based off of 1) they have to be weighted enough to support the players and 2) because of the internal mechanics of the pad itself. Tag on the balance bars (between 15-20lbs) and you get a total of between 165-195lbs. for each pad. Then, the monitor, which I assume can be compared to a regular large-screen t.v., probably weighs about 75-100 lbs. (those suckers are heavy!) Add the basestand and all its internal workings, and it brings that part up to about, oh, let's say 200-300 lbs. So far this range for the total weight of a DDR machine is between 365-495 lbs. Not that much, really, untill you add the speakers, lights, decorative trim, and for fun, the coin holder for the coin line. the lights probably weigh about 20lbs each, and if I recall correctly (then again, it depends on which machine you play on), there are 4 sets of lights. Logically, 4x20= 80, bringing the total range up to 445-575lbs. The decorative trim can't possibly weigh more than 10 lbs (455-585lbs), and the speakers... well, the speakers are probably in the rang of 100-125 lbs each. Times that by 2, and you get 200-250lbs for speakers. That brings the total weight range up to 655-835 lbs.
So Rocks is probably about right.
Anyway... Hope that helps. _________________
