I also literally saw it 10 minutes ago and alerted J Dogg and he took down the banner ads temporarily. _________________

Er, is this supposed to be on the site?
...and when I clicked on "What's this?" and it said...

IntelliTXT is integrated on the website youre visiting and not your computer. This technology does not collect personal information or require any form of software to be downloaded. |
...so I'm pretty sure it's not me.
Or is it? _________________

Yes. It's not your computer - this is server-side advertising stuff. _________________

What about the Vibrating Tounge Ring ad? "Use your imagination" Some people might take offense to that one.... _________________

At this URL: http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/posting.php?mode=quote&p=7907201
I got an alert from VirusScan where something with the name track[1].htm was detected as Exploit-MhtRedir.gen , detected as a Trojan, was deleted.
This happened as I was typing a reply to a message.
At the same time my pop-up blocker gave the message:
Your security settings do not allow websites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly.
I didn't get a close look at the banner ad, but it was moving at first. However, when I went back to it the ad was a stationary one for Verizon DSL. Wassup with that? _________________

The banner ads rotate, so the url of the forum page you found it on isn't going to help us resolve the problem, that's why you got the different ad when you went back.
If you get it again, please make a note of which ad it is and try to get the url for the picture of the ad. It would give us a much better indication of which specific ad we're looking for. _________________

i'm not sure if this was already said, but i checked page 1,9, and 10, so delete this if you want, but:
sometimes (it's happened 3 times now) this one download thing comes up (download as in the window that says "do you want to download so and so?" you know, like the legal window instead of a popup ad) and even if you click no, a popup comes up later, even if you have a popup blocker (but my popup blocker may be out of date.) and the title says "second thought installation" and has some stuff like lists what this product does and then has lower in the window "you have already agreed to our terms, in a different window (WRONG!). if you have changed your mind, uncheck this box and then close the window. and then it has a checked box down in the corner, that isn't as noticeable. and at the bottom of the ad it has this huge button that says CLICK HERE TO CLOSE THIS WINDOW!!!!!!!!!! as they are hoping that people won't read it and close the window with out unchecking the box, and then get spyware and viruses installed onto thier computer.
i got 2 viruses from this ad before i restored my computer, and my virus scanner said that they were called "bloodhound 4. packed" and bloodhoud3. packed" or something. sorry this is a long post, just letting you know. _________________

So given all the trouble with virusscan alerts on DDRFreak, I switched to Firefox. Now I'm getting windows that say "This document contains no data" where I think I previously would have gotten an alert from virusscan. However, today when I was looking at a forum after having just posted a pm and being taken back to the forum, I noticed in the bar at the bottom of the page that usually just says "Done" the words "Transferring data from whatpulse.bounceme.net". The loading bar on the right bottom of the window appeared then finished and nothing else happened.
Is this the kind of mystery URL you were looking for? _________________

OK, final post for now and I promise:
This sequence:
Whatpulse etc
Static.upptechnologies.com
text.burstnet etc
No alert window
That's it and goodbye for now; won't bother you anymore. _________________

If you're getting those annoying pop-up boxes that say: This document contains no data.
Do the following:
VxJasonxV wrote: | In Firefox:
Open a new tab and type: about:config
In the filter bar type in (or search for) browser.xul.error_pages.enabled
Double click to make it TRUE. (Also, the line should be turned bold.)
IIRC this will disable all pop-ups and make the error inline.
Since the error is iframed, it should restrict the page error to just the iframe.
Lemme know if this is not the case, I don't have any easy way to reproduce the error. |
P.S. Auntie M, please use the edit button next time . _________________

I find it a bit ironic that there's a banner here showing a bike and saying something like "Too bad it's motor is inside playing video games."
They need to be specific we're inside playing DDR! _________________

I am unsure if this is the correct thread, but I'm being randomly sent to Smiley Central. I got it once reading a thread and another looking at my Profile. |

i'm getting a few nasty banner ads here on ddrfreak. one is ads by iTotalFind, which, for reasons beyond me, plays a sound of a car motor.
the other one takes me straight to a pornography site without me ever clicking on the banner. also, if i am typing a post when i click the back button to go back to browsing the forums, i am taken back to the thread which i was posting in, rather than the posting screen itself. the url for the banner is as follows (spaces added intentionally):
http://212. 159. 16. 75/ THIS IS PORNOGRAPHY! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
i've cleared all saved cookies along with my cache and run ad-aware, yet these 2 banner ads persist. |

We're gettng a new ad company in the next few days! I'm very hopeful that this will solve all the problems we've been having lately. If it doesn't work, I'm going to look into hosting without an external ad agency. _________________
