Hi..I'm 23. will be 24 in june. Have been playing DDR total for 2 years in may, but seriously since june of last year...
My name is Nicky..And i'm addicted to DDR.
Hello!! Hey AuntieM!! We got another female addict here laugh.gif I wonder if we have better female vs. male player ratio as we look into older players… I have another DDR message board I posts in another website. We had many female DDR addicts started to post right after Christmas and going very well. Many of them are older then 20, most are 30+... I'm still one of the oldest though riiight.gif

I think you definitely win the prize, danburi! E4.gif

There's one other grandma (well, you're an almost-grandma so you just about qualify) who has posted in the other Old Folks thread. And I personally know of another DDR grandma, but she is remaining silent.

Have you all noticed how popular this thread is, and the Old Folks Accomplishment Thread in Gameplay? I am amazed at our numbers and committment/fanaticism!

I wonder if Konami is paying attention to this very important and well-off demographic that they may be missing in their marketing. I mean, think about it - not only are we fans, we are involved enough to sustain this kind of interest and to promote DDR to others. Plus, we have the buying power that younger fans just don't have. I and my family have personally convinced over 6 people to buy DDR, and I have bought 3 versions for myself.

It's pretty surprising; isn't it? E1.gif

They're not being blatant about it, but I think this push towards marketing the health and weight loss benefits of DDR is a move in that direction. Think about it... which demographic tends to spend the most on weight loss products?

Yep, I have noticed that too. And I remember certain some one saying:

DDR is great cardio workout. Oh by the way, I played more then 2 hours today. I was very frustrated at work so left early and played Ultramix2, and then Extreme Single, Double then Single again E15.gif

Yeah, it's very cool to see so many oldsters coming out of the woodwork... and that statement of mine was just a ploy to get the mods to go for it E4.gif

I am sore. Last night was major fun. Instead of doing my normal run with this guy who plays heavy with me. I did all my turns t non-stop on standard level. It was a workout!!! I'm so happy my best friend was there to play with me biggrin.gif

I have to admit that staying up late is kinda pushing it..Although we didn't arcade jump last night. We stayed till midnight at this place and we didn't head over to the one that stay open till 1am. Instead we went to ihop where i most likely gained back triple what i lost (if i lost anything at that) i had a belgian waffle... frown.gif i know i know..i shoulnd't have..)

Okay..I'm not good at ddr. believe me. BUT i'm entering myself into this teams tourney with a friend of my sister who is better at ddr than me..The thing is that he says he's not even good..WTF ..he's better than me..Anyways..i'm starting to get nervous about the tourney. this past half week hasn't been good. i'm been stressed out and eating like crazy (i eat when i'm stressed!) and i didn't play ddr for 4 days (until last night)..i felt out of it..maybe it was just an OFF day? i hope......I'm nervous that the group of ddr'rs who are entering will be young, snobby and stuck up and make fun of me...ahhh!!!

Good luck to your tourney. Have Fun!!! I don’t think anyone will make fun of you. I’m sure there are many who are better then you but also many who are not. Important thing is for you to enjoy it, have fun with your friends, learn a trick or two from other players and maybe get to know some of them. Good Luck E13.gif

i always like the people that stand around in the arcade watching rampage and i play as they ask "OMG! how do you do that?!?!?!" man, i'm only 30 but watching some of the people at the arcade play makes me feel old. at least i'm better than many of them.

You tell 'em, Slowpoke!

nnddrgirl - I entered a tournament in November to find out that all the light/standard players are really people who play all the time on Heavy but can't AA everything all the time like other Heavy tournament players can. So I got whupped immediately, but you know what - I had tons of fun. I finally met other people who are fanatical about DDR. No older adults, though, but you're not as old as me, so that's OK. E1.gif

I have no idea how a team tourney works. It sounds like your standardness might get averaged in with the other players' skills? But in any case don't worry! It will be tons of fun. And you can just laugh at the younger players who sometimes take everything WAY too seriously. It's all about the fun, as far as I'm concerned.

Another old folks topic: who besides Slowpoke, roxfan and I get aches and pains related to DDR? I can't stop playing, but I am playing less b/c my d4mn hip hurts whenever I play. I know roxfan and Slowpoke have mentioned problems. What do you guys do? Take ibuprofen and keep playing? I'm really bummed right now. (

I don’t get aches and pains too much. One advantage of been short I guess, don’t put too much strain on my joints:) I do however, noticed that if I do over do it, pain comes later then used to. I have aches and pains start next day and last longer riiight.gif When I do have aches, I usually keep playing. I’m from old school, you need to use it in order to loosen it E1.gif

Hope you feel better soon AuntieM

Hi everybody.
I am 34, married with one kid. I've been playing DDR for 2 years now. I think it is an excellent way to exercise and I try to get a short session in after work every night. I have a pad at home but I sometimes go to Milpitas Golfland on the weekends.

Haha the young "kids" that play there are really good. I stay in the 5-7 footer range. I'm not sure I'll ever break into Heavy mode. Its not like I'll ever try to compete or anything, I just like DDR for fun exercise.

My son is too young to play but he is very interested in the lights and music. Someday he will start playing, I am sure.
