Has anyone noticed that Riyu Kosaka (the Candy <3 artist) switched her name around in Love <3 Shine as Kosaka Riyu? _________________

That's because generally the Japanese use their last name first. _________________

I wouldn't necessarily believe anything I read in a DDR song banner... after all, for Telephone Operator, they refer to Pete Shelley as "Shelley Peter" |

This is often done to circumvent royalties and copyright issues... Also its cheaper to make a cover of the song and say its by some fabricated artist than to license the original, especially in the case of Britney Spears or Jennifer Lopez...
However, if you had done your research, you'd find that Kosaka Riyu is the lead singer of BeForU, the band created originally to perform the song Dive, and then it became a real band. She also sings on most DDR songs that have a female singer and are sung in japanese (dive to the night, candy heart, both "true" and all the BeforU songs ofcourse)....
She's a legit Jap singer.... _________________

What does this have to do with my comment that Konami sometimes screws up their song banners? And who was asking for her bio? The original poster was just making the point that her name is reversed in two banners of a couple songs. I'm pretty sure we all already knew who she was. |

It seemed to me that you were questioning the validity of her name... maybe i misread, but i don't really care.
And you do realize that's not the original version of "Telephone Operator" (since the original had more than one line in it)... as I was saying... Konami has an annoying habit of remaking/mixing songs, and saying they're by fabricated artists... Like how Cartoon heroes is originally by Aqua, yet konami used the same lyric track as the original, sped up the music a bit, called it "speed mix" and all of a sudden its by "Barbie Young" when it's still Aqua doing all the singing.
So as I pointed out, they purposely change the names sometimes to avoid paying full royalties... however Kosaka Riyu is not the case... Infact probabally the only place you're going to find her name screwed up is on stepmania/dwi files where someone else other than Konami is labeling it. On the actual arcade mixes, her name is written in Japanese.
As for you NicX, I'll type however i wish. I only said Jap because it's quicker than saying "Japanese"... No mal intent meant... if you notice i also wrote 'legit" instead of "legitimate". Just because you associate a negative stigma with the phrase "Jap" doesn't mean I do too. So I'll continue to use it as I please. _________________

This is quite possibly the stupidest paragraph I have ever read. |

It's not stupid, just the way of going about "remixing" a song like that is just dumb. Did Barbie Young even do anything? _________________

... and the original was a wee bit longer than 90 seconds too. Thanks, Captain Obvious. But in all likelihood, it is a remix, not a remake. And there's no vocal tricks that would cause them to need to invent a fake artist name... and I seriously doubt Konami would bother using "Shelley Peter" as a fake artist name for a Pete Shelley song, since they wouldn't be fooling anyone if their goal was subterfuge. If you would stop pontificating for a moment, you'd realize that the most obvious explanation is that someone at Konami got confused because a) the Japanese reverse their names (relative to ours) to begin with and b) both "Peter" and "Shelley" work as either a first name or a last name. |

I believe so. Barbie Young is an Aqua cover artist. |

Yes, Barbie Young is pretty much an Aqua cover artist. She is from Saifam, not Konami. Telephone Operator is the club mix. Konami did not make either of them. |

If you want to abbreviate Japanese, the correct form is JPN not JAP. _________________
