I concur. But the real question is, Who really cares?

... I think he meant specific people. Like on ITG it says "Expert steps by: K. Ward" or whoever. Maybe it's just me but I think it's kinda a given that Konami claims the creation of the steps.

Jason Enos told me that they hire an outside person. Someone who's good at dance and can make the steps fun but not awkward.

Hmm, that makes a lot of sense. 'Cuz a lot of the standard steps are pretty "dancy?" But I think it'd be neat if Konami had like.. some sort of raffle or something so you can create dance steps. That'd rule.. id make a 170 bpm 10 footer. devil.gif

So you'd basically make a harder EotC or a somewhat difficult Maximizer?

Or maybe he'd just make G2(which is a ~170 bpm 10 footer...)?

I don't really see why it would take a dance person to know what kind of steps work. I mean, at a certain level, any ddr player can tell you when steps just.. don't work, and when they're cool and there's an efficient way of doing them. Yeah, originally they'd probably need someone who already knows how the steps could go, but at this point players know.

You would think so... but take ITG for example. Those steps were designed by experienced step-makers, and yet alot of people complain about how retarded so many of the patterns are. So I guess there's a wide range of opinion on what makes steps good or bad.

Well, whoever it was, I'm sure they had a fun time deciding that Ultramix's version of "Look to the Sky (True Color Mix)" didn't need freeze arrows or that its version of "Candy <3" was better off with Candy (Star)'s steps. T_T

The people(or person) who made the steps in DDR Ultramix were hired by KCEH, not KCET.

So whoever decided it'd be fun to change the steps for Look To The Sky (True Color Mix) and Candy (Heart) was probably the person/people who also made the TERRIBLE steps for the UM1 original songs.

KCEH fired said person/people. They rehired new step creator(s) for UM2.

Yeah, I knew it was KCEH. They got fired? Good show, Hawaii.

Actually, the song makers, i.e. Naoki, Caramel S., Des-Row, etc., have very little to no involvment in the steps themselves, for the most part. Although, Caramel S. has admitted that he sometimes thinks of how the steps might look. The steps are automatically generated by a computer based on the songs BPM and overall "feel."
