Hey all-
I have stepmaina and a super joy box- the blue thing. I also use generic ignition pads. I decided to bring my pads to a freind's house, who also has steppmaina, only he has an ems adaptor. My pads won't work at all at his house- in control panel, it doesn't even recognize them as being there-no input, no nothing. Any ideas? Thanks. _________________

bring your own adapter over to your friend's house and try using that one. _________________

Ok, I know you have to press start+select+up to get it into dance mode, but my question is when do you have to press that? Before or after you enter SM? If after, at the title screen thing? Or does it matter at all? Sorry if this has been asked, but I'd appreciate a response irregardless if it has been or not. _________________

Yes, I should have been smart and checked out this thread before I went about ordering my USB adapter but whatever, it's done.
I got my "Super Dual Box"... yes
That one . When I plugged it in and did the Dance mode then it worked just fine until I tried to plug my pad into the second player slot and it decided to just continually scroll up. I decided to then try installing the drivers it came with which resulted in my arrows being immensely delayed, especially the right. I then removed the drivers and everything was fine once again, but still the issue with my second player slot.
Aside from "OMG UR ADAPTOR SUCKS GO GET A REAL ONE!!!" can anyone give any advice? or should I just be happy that I can play single player mode without a problem using this adapter? _________________

im thinking of buying the red octane one usb adaptor. but my question is this, will it work with my konami pad (the one that came with ddr extreme for the ps2) and if not what would be a good one for the ps2 pads? _________________

Rychan, the adapter I got from Level 6 looks a lot like yours. I'm using Win2000 and only the native driver for this (no additional installation required) and to me it's always worked perfectly.
Basically, the steps I take are like this:
-plug the 2 ps2 mats into the dual box
-plug the dual box into the pc
-wait a couple seconds
-press up+select+start on controller 1 and hold for 2-3 seconds
-repeat this for controller 2
-start stepmania
This always works perfectly for me.
There were additional steps the first time to properly set everything:
-Before starting stepmania, but after the codes, open windows control panel, go to game controllers, and enter the test mode for each controller, and make sure each arrow press highlights a different button (don't mind the x-y axis, you won't be using it).
-If all of this goes fine, start stepmania, go to configuration for your inputs and map each arrow properly.
If after that you still can't get it to work, you may have a bad or defecive adapter... _________________

If you're looking for an adapter for CF's it's best to check the forums on their web-site. I can't remember which ones are recommended, but I have the parallel port adapter from BNS that I got with my XTreme and it works fine (but I can only use one of my CFs at a time :/ ) _________________

Ok, new question. I have this adapter:
ive been tryin to set this thing up all day. i installed the driver stepmania has for that one and everything. and i tested it out and its not responding to the double steps like up+down or right+left. and YES, i did see this question on the first faq page. but theres a problem there.
Im using xbox pads, so is up+start+select the same as up+start+back?
And can you explain more on this code like how or where i do it?
thanks |

I figure it should be (up+start+back) on an xbox pad. The best way to see what's going on is to open window's control panel, go into game controllers, and you should see your 2 units there (if you have 2 pads plugged), go into properties and see if window detects your arrows as buttons (arrows will always be detected as X-Y axis, too, you just don't wanna use that). If they don't, then the code hasn't worked properly.
If they do light up as buttons, and Stepmania still doesn't let you push up+down or left+right, you probably just need to remap your Stepmania controls, go through the menus again, and set your buttons. When you push an arrow, Stepmania should register it as Controller 1 Button 1/2/3/4 etc. instead of Controller 1 Left.
Hope that helps! _________________

hey folks...
well, i'm having a pretty bad headache with this adapter...
sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't... and i can't figure out why it does and why it doesn't work
when it doesn't, i may happen that:
1. when i go to the control panel, joystick configuration, the first pad has a blue screen and the second pad has the screen of the joystick with some buttons pressed, why i'm not pressing them at all... and when i go to game, it just thinks that i have pressed some buttons, specialy the up arrow
2. when i go to the control panel, joystick configuration, the first pad has a blue screen and the second pad responds exactly as i touch one of the pads, i can even configure the keys in the game, but i cant play (the game wont take the commands in game)
i'm under winxp sp2, dx9b, i have two pro logic3 dance mats and a big headache
please help me!
i have the grey model, with blue connectors
EDIT**
ok i just realised that i had to connect the adapter without the pads ONLY AFTER rebooting... and now i have the two pads that ALMOST work flawlessly... now the problem is:
i can go to dwi and configure the keys, but the game wont accept the commands outside the configuration... and when i go to the windows joystick config, the second joystick is just perfect and the first one almost perfect, except from this flickering in the joystick picture...
could someone help me??

Mwahahahaa @ n00bs
He didn't even supply what kind of adaptor brand it was. All he said was "i have the grey model, with blue connectors". I mean, I can PAINT my adaptor those colors and say i have the same as his.
EDIT: I noticed that he did in fact edit his post, so Im guessing he found the button, so I'm also guessing he posted the "." posts just to get attention to his problem. |

Nah he probably edited the first post and then realized this board does not allow to delete posts, so he replaced the contents of the later posts with .
So.... yeah... _________________
