|
|
My question is, what is the longest time DDR has been played by I person? I wanted to know, because me and my friend wanted to try a see if we can break that record. We were going to go on endless mode and something and just play nonstop. Any help for my question will be appreciated! _________________

I don't know the record but I have been part of a group which everyone did 73 out of 75 hours on a pad. I seriously doubt if this would be the record though. I've heard of upwards of 100 hours but never witnessed it.
Go to http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/ and browse around, something might be there
Good luck with your attempt _________________

Last I heard, the official one was something like 37 hours, with ten second breaks between songs and every fifteen minutes a five minute bathroom/food break. It might have been beaten, however. _________________

wonder if someone can play all the songs in the series while hooked up to a machine that gives you a drink every song, air fans all over the place, and records the wheight you lost like the UM series. _________________

Do you mean a record on a machine or on home version? If it was at home, you could just go endless mode or something. If it were on a machine, you better hope no one else wants to play... |

If I did it at home, I was thinking of doind it om my JP Extreme on Endless mode. As for the machine, I was thinking of Renting a machine if I wanted to do it on a machine. _________________

Im Pretty sure I can do it. I have to come up with a specific day, and try to get my local arcade to set the machine up for me to do it. _________________

I'm not even sure if that's the longest time. That simply what I found searching for "World Record" on these forums.

The article is pretty vague, for all we know he's on light mode. _________________

Yep, he paid for all those games. The equals up to a lot of money. I'm going to try to get my local arcade to put it on Free play for me and my friend. We are hoping to start it this Friday. _________________

It is a known fact he was on beginner mode. There were discussions about this a while ago . That's the reason the difficult part was staying awake. |

Whoa guys...
Before you go breaking 37.5 hours, you may want to break 40 hours. I remember seeing the post of the guy who broke the record, the news release(which was written and carried by The Dallas Morning News- although no longer availabe on their website) is post #84 in this thread, linked here:
http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=90474&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=80
You may also want to look at this post:
http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=7712711#7712711
Pretty much saying that Guinness doesn't recognise any further world records for DDR past the 37.5 one.
Now as far as the validity of the whole thing- I have no reason to doubt the claim, considering how a news story was done on it and it sounds like a true story. But who knows. _________________

And you have every reason to doubt me. I can show you a copy of the DMW article that I kept, but the you would say they weren't there the entire time to prove it. I even made a home video of it (10 min, who would want to watch 40 hours??), but then you could claim that I just cut and pasted it. I have signatures of at least 2 non-related witnesses at all times that took at most 4 hours shifts being straight witnesses, but then you could say I forged them. You could even argue that because Guinness dropped the category altogether, then I have no claim in saying "World Record". Whether or not you believe me, it doesn't take away from the fact that I did it, and more importantly (and the whole reason for doing it) was that I raised enough money for my friend in Russia to come home summer '05. I will even take pictures of her and me hanging out, but then you would say its just some girl I picked off the street.
Anyways, thanks for all the help from all those that supported me, thats what got me through it. And for those of you that want to bash it, I've learned to tolerate and accept that some people are just that way.
Have a nice day |

no, I actually really believe you, I'm just saying that I personally can't vouch for the validity of the story, and disappearance of the articles makes it prone to speculation, amirite
my original point was to say, 37.5 hours is probably not the world record. (but thinking about it now, how many people actually try it instead of just plan to try it?) _________________
