cancelling actions? I've never heard of any cancelling stuff, what is that?

Rockhopper, that pad looks very nice. It that 8 buttons?

hey i replaced the weatherstriping and it works wonderfully!! Thanks to ddrhomepad for his design and everyone who helped me out on the forums (i'll post pics later)

I agree with padmaker... I stopped getting notifications too *mutters*, I wondered why the forum was so silent, guess I'm gullible. Nice 9 panel pad. I considered that, because I've really liked pump it up at the arcade recently, but if I try to master all the games right now I'm going to get nowhere, hehe. I'll stick to heavy/oni doubles as my goal.

As far as putting lights in your pad, I'm making progress there. I've found some good leds that I'm deciding between now, and I'll be running a test circuit off the ps2 soon. The tricky part is getting ahold of ps2 connectors/cords that have a wire hooked up to that 8v pin. I'll post picks and all when I write my walkthrough... once I get it working, hehe, I'm still in the baby stages.

Adamthole: I'm making a pad with lights that draws all its power from the ps2 only, using leds. If you can wait around a couple weeks or so, I'll be able to tell people how to do this. That way you don't need an extension cord with another outlet or anything.

Quick note on LED lighting, etc. An update if you will.

My circuit is going to be simpler than those containing relays and transistors and 9v power sources. I will be using a controller extension cable (or a cable cut off of a dual shock controller -- whichever is cheaper), and tapping into Pin 3 on a ps2 pinout. It has 8v of power. I'll be running that to one set of contact screws, and ground to another set of contact screws. I'll wire up the leds in parrallel, each with its own current limiting resistor, and connect those to the ground side of the circuit. When the arrow is stepped on, in addition to completing a SEPERATE circuit for the button mechanics, it will complete the lighting circuit and light up several leds in only that arrow. I'll update more when the time comes.

well i appologize for my arrogent post beofer in this forum and i have been doing a lot of reading.

but i now run into a few problems.

i have been googling many variants of home mad metal arcade DDR pad. and i can't find a pad that had 9 steps (for Pump it UP)

if anyone has any sucessful guides of a 9 step dance pad i would appriciate it if they could post it.

i have been reading regular guides like the http://www.geocities.com/ddrhomepad

and i belive i have the "skills" necessary to make one the problem is that i need guidence

No problem, I was asking questions about a 9 button pad just last week, so you're not alone. I just decided to attempt a different feat for right now... I'll probably build one later... hehe, I'll build the first 9 panel pad with lights powered solely from whatever console you plug it into: pc, xbox, ps2... MUAHAHAHA.

IDEA: maybe you can just make a dance pad and intergrade it to the floor of your living room and when your not using it... put a rug over it.

I'm going to be having mine done at Kinkos, other people print it on two pieces of paper and tape them together, any print shop can do it.

I believe they can print off of flash drives, should be able to easily. But take it in on one of the other kinds of media just in case, that way you won't have to make 2 trips at all.

I'm gonna make printing out the arrows my last priority so I can make sure I have everything working on the pad before putting the final touches on.

I anxiously await a picture of your final pad with the LED's

Could someone PM me more information about PIU? I keep hearing about it, but I have never seen it played or know what it is. All I know is it has 9 buttons. Any info would be appreciated. (sorry for the Off-Topic post, just PM me so this isn't a thread-jack. Thanks)
