I don't think anyone used it for anything except to get .dwi's, anyway.

There is a rumor that the IFPI may choose to prosecute the site's entire user base....
but the rumor comes from someone who likes to rile people up, so I dunno.... _________________

People on GameFAQs are saying that the users who down/uploaded stuff will get a fine.
I downloaded nearly 200 simfiles from there.
.............. I'm nervous as heck right now. _________________

But that "Legal FAQ" that got posted was written by someone who likes to worry people unnecessarily, or so I heard.....so that tidbit of info abotu user fines is still in the rumor stage. _________________

yeah, so am I. how will they be able to tell who uploaded/downloaded stuff?
the site did say no legal action was being pursued, which is some relief. _________________

It's not the first time something like this has happened, I guess. If you had a site pumping out that many MP3s and they said "Right, we want logs or we are going to poopy on you", you'd probably not be debating it too long. Didn't those other guys who got made an example of get fined $150,000 per song or something like that? |

DDRUK keeps logs. That's how they get bittorrent stats for everyone. I assume so, anyway, otherwise how would they know? The FAQ thing said no action will be taken against MYST. That's how I read it, anyway. I'm going to sit tight on this one. Hopefully my ISP will respect my privacy more than the average US one after being strongarmed. |

If there's anybody to pay a fine, it's the site, not the users. As far as I've seen, lawsuits are aimed at hosts, not downloaders. |

Geez man, that's some scary s**t. Is this fine rumor limited to British users or is it international? I hope that doesn't go through. Yikes.
Phew. It's times like this I'm glad I don't deal with pirated/copyright infringement stuff. |

I'm glad my computer sucks to much to download anything at all.
But why would people get in trouble for transferring files they made themselves? Isn't it true that all simfiles, even if they were the original steps, were made by someone that isn't Konami, therefore making it OK for them to freely transfer them, since they made it? _________________

The .dwi files themselves are legal. The mp3's are not.

If you've uploaded anything, you could get a fine. MAYBE. If anything was taken against the site it would be the owner and managers of it.
Anyone targeted by the RIAA during the huge busts about file sharing were people who shared their music. Downloading is something no one can stop. _________________

i've always been under the impression that mp3s were legal if they were downloaded directly from the internet and not off some p2p software. and if that's false, then windows media player should be outlawed.
as for uploading, bemanistyle members could get a big-ass fine. unless you were talking about the official uploads. and even then blah blab blah i'll shut up now *wanders off to random chat* _________________

HAHAHAHHAHA.
That's a good one.
And why should Windows Media Player be outlawed by that logic? If you use it to download an illegal song, then that's your fault, not WMP's. _________________
