Gods no, I'm slightly under 190 in weight (pounds) and I play DDR on a soft pad on the second floor. Our house is one in San Francisco so the houses are quite compact and small, but the flooring is sturdy enough for me to play nine footers and the like.
No, I have not fallen down to my first floor to my garage. _________________

I just bought said Ultramix 2 bundle including the soft pad. It's my second experience with a DDR pad (the first being on something very similar marketed by [shudder] GameStop). The only problem I've found is that if you're playing completely barefoot (no socks), your feet sweat and stick to the pad. It's a minor nusiance. Supposedly, you're not supposed to use shoes, and since I'd rather not buy a new pad right away, I don't care to experiment. It would probably tear it up faster than you can say "New Balance". The only reason you might want shoes with this pad is if your house/basement/floor of choice is on a concrete slab. |

For the people that have this pad I want to ask questions about storing and taking care of it. Do you guys always wipe the pad with water and clean it after use? Also do you guys fold it and put it in a box or put it somewhere else? |

I take good care of my pad (this pad). I never fold it and store it completely flat. It is unmodded and it still works and gives me AAs and SDGs to this day. When cleaning the pad, I take a swiffer cloth to the surface of the pad. I clean it after use or before use.
P.S. I've had mine since the first day USMax2 came out. I bought the Max2 bundle. _________________

Hey guys,
Wondering if anyone could suggest any pad covers, non-radical mods, or fastening methods for this particular pad. I've got the non-slip surface more or less covered (a plastic floormat for office/rolling chairs works nicely), but unfortunately, the pad curls up around the edges. Even if I could get the pad flat, though, it still seems like I'd have a pad slipping problem on anything over a 4-footer. Is there a way to stop the pad from slipping around without doing something as drastic as using masking tape on all sides? Red Octane mentions a Dance Pad Cover that might've helped, but it's never been in stock. Thanks in advance for the advice. |

I'm probably gonna have to buy another one of these pads soon since my last one, which I had since DDR Usa came out, just crapped out on me. Just a few questions I have for when I get a new one:
1. My mother crumpled up my old one whenever I left it out (even if it was folded). I have since told her to leave it alone, but it has raised a question for me. If I left the pad completly unfolded on a flat surface rather then folding, would that increase the life of it?
2. Does the temperature of the room you're in affect the life of the pad? I play in my basement and it is very cold down there (so cold that no matter how long I play, I never sweat).
3. I recently had my carpets removed from my basement, so now there's a linonlium tile surface on the floor. Whenever it rains water rises up from the floor. If I got the bottom of the pad wet, would that be bad for it?
Thanks in advance. |

I have a Konami Softpad Mk. II, and I'm also trying to sell it too. PM me if you're interested.
Anyways, I leave my pad straight flat out with my Official Andamiro Pump it Up pad covering it on top, as the PIU pad is slightly bigger. It extends the life, as if you crunch it up or fold it up, a wrong fold can kill the sensors inside of the pad.
I wet my bad slightly to clean the surface and the bottom of it, and it hasn't done anything wrong. I still AA 9 footers and pass some 10s at home. Heck, I passed MaxX Unlimited with a B on this pad and it still works great. I recently got four AAAs on the pad on Heavy still.
Then again, I take GOOD CARE of this pad. _________________

I have this pad (with Extreme) had it about 2 months. I love the pad because it was so cheap and works well for me. A VERY kickass soft pad. I'm not the greatest of players, between 6-8 std-hvy usually. Unfortuneately, this pad is starting to crap out on me. The sensitivity is dropping slowly. All the arrows work, but sometimes my pad forgets that the down arrow is there. Sometimes I leave it out flat, sometimes it get crumpled (in which i make it flat) and for transporting I 6-fold it so the top arrow shows (it's about the size of my playstation, makes moving very easy) I've never cleaned it before, it must smell pretty bad. I alsm play in my basement, which poses this problem. WE HAVE CARPETING. Not the good kind you may have in a living room, but the kind with very long strings that nothing will stick to. Still, after 3 songs I only move the pad about a foot. I have very few AA's with this pad, probably because after 2 months I'm still not used to somehting about it and its sensitivity.
I am in the market for a steel pad now. I have about 300 to spend on it. Any suggestions? I play about 45 mins every day or 2 so the pad will get a lot of use. I would just go to an arcade, but this in the long run is cheaper. The closest arcade with an actual DDR is 20 minutes away. The local one has PIU and terrible sound. Actually, while I was playign the worker turned up the volume. Thanks for your advice.
Overall -- This pad is a GREAT deal for those starting out with not much money. The pad will last until you have the money and skill to get a good pad. I give it an 8/10. My PS2 will agree. _________________

Your problem: Your crumpled up the pad and/or you folded it incorrectly. You must of killed the sensors inside. _________________

That is NOT the Mk. II judging from the appearance of the item. I believe it may be a NAKI or a rip off of one of those. _________________

I got this pad with the Extreme bundle as well. For the first three months my wife and I would play for hours on end on this pad alone. It appears to fail on me after 5-6 songs now (9 months later) but for my wife it has always worked and she has consistently SDG standard V and 321 Stars among others.
Because we have your basic non-stringy carpet on the basement floor, we've bought some velcro hook tape and taped it to the underside four corners of the pad (actually to all three of our soft pads) and now it never slips no matter what I do!
I know we've folded it improperly in the past and if I get another I will mod it so it can't be folded and I expect it to last a very very long time. Its sensitivity and accuracy is right on! |

I duck tape my flat soft pads to the ground...
Sometimes my dog walks on them so I just pull out a broom and sweep off the pads
but they are pretty good if they are ducktaped to the ground... _________________

i just got into ddr a week ago, and bought the extreme bundle. for a beginner, i like the pad alot. it barely moves around (inches at most), and was an economical way of getting into ddr. |
