i just bought the original white on white phat farms, they are wonderful to play ddr in. The first day i go them i went to my friends house, jumped on the pad and played for a while and got my first ever AAA. It was on air.... so idk if anyone really counts that.

I bought a separate pair of shoes to play DDR with because I don't want to get any dirt in my pad... So I purchased some Pumas and they have been working perfectly. Not too much friction so you can slide you foot to the next panel, but enough grip to get the job done. They fit loosely and are really comfortable to jump in. They really help with the heavy songs.
Running shoes all the way.

At home I just play in my socks, because I have a nice soft pad. At the arcades I usually wear my Eccos, which seem to work pretty well, and occasionally my cheap knock-offs of Ugg boots.

Yea, i wear socks too, at home that is. Hmm, as for the arcade, running shoes do work well. I don't go much thou...except just to show off biggrin.gif , but when i do i try to cordinate w/ a pair of nikes. Any color will do...

i wear running shoes. they are designed to take impact, so they are well cushioned. they are also lightweight.

I played barefoot for a long time, but I found that wearing socks became necessary when I started doing more advanced songs. Otherwise, my feet tend to stick to the pad too much. I've never played in an arcade, unfortunately, so I have no idea what I'd wear there.

My old shoes that I wear sometimes, that are pretty messed up on the bottom.

New shoes... Kind of ugly, but sure are nice for DDR.

Socks... it just doesn't feel right to play barefooted. Plus I'm using a softpad, so I can't wear shoes.

When playing the DDR Machine, I just use whatever I am wearing.

currently I wear my DC Avatar's (skate shoes)

but I am thinking about buying some better shoes... like basketball or running shoes for better arch support and better grip
