I was at Universal with a couple of my friends. We were at Stay-and-Scream, where we were under a "lock-down" kind of mode until things opened up again. We were trying to pass the time of our wait, and I watched my friends play DDR. After a few rounds, I got curious and wanted to try it. Ever since, I've been addicted. |

I kept hearing about it from various places but I think it was about 6th or 7th grade when FFR was popping up on every school computer. I knew what DDR was, but I'd never had a chance to play it. FFR sold me on the idea.
Moving on a few years...
Our mall [shudder, I hate our mall] arcade has had it for awhile, but I was determined to try it in private and at least get decent before I made a public appearance.
Problem was, nobody I knew had DDR at home.
Moving on maybe a year or so...
I bought my Xbox. Then, sometime later, they announced DDR Ultramix. I was like, "Whoa. I gotta get that." It came out, but since it was something totally different, I was like, "I should try it at the arcade or wait until a friend gets it." Nobody ever got it, and I never got the courage to play it at the arcade. (Nobody I was ever with ever played, so I wasn't ever encouraged/forced.) I kept waiting, and FINALLY my best friend buys Ultramix 2. He brings it over on New Years and he lets me try it.
16 days later (a.k.a. today), I finally buy it, even though I should have saved all of my Christmas money for upcoming car expenses. I figure I tuck away $100 and live a little before I become another broke, penny-pinching slave to capitalism and all that is evil in the world.
...and I needed the exercise. I'm 5'7", 175, and have a gut and double chin. Running is okay, but I live in the same neighborhood I've lived in all my life and running the same three short streets is boring. Plus, running in general is pretty boring.
Now, I have to play too much so I wear out my sucky bundled (actually, it's not that bad, but around here, it seems popular to hate on the Konami mat, so whatever) Konami pad and start losing weight so I can justify buying an Ignition off eBay or something. |

Let me think...personal love for the unknown and quirky, I would say. Of course, DDR isn't that quirky compared to some things out NOW (its actually relatively normal), but it was relatively strange and foreign (to me) when I first saw it. And I love weird stuff. So, I loved DDR. Simple. Of course, even though I loved it, it didn't change my mind about it being a really stupid idea (I was just angry that I lost, I think) _________________

I guess my dad got me into it. He gave me the money, and I tried it. But that was a long time ago. _________________

I saw DDR in the arcade and became curious about it, so I saw some people do it then tried it out for myself, I don't remember exactly the first song I tried since it was so long ago...but I think I sort of passed or failed..don't remember, but it was fun. _________________

I got into it kind of the same way. A guy was playing 4th Mix Solo and was amazed by it. Even though it wasn't a very hard song. Thats not really the first time I saw DDR though. When I went to Disneyland for a band fieldtrip, I saw these 2 asian guys playing the song "Boys". I don't really remember which mix it was but they were amazing. At first, I thought it was kind of, well, gay, because they were playing a song called "Boys". After I started playing, I realized it was just a song and didn't care anymore. |

Ive told this story alot and love to tell it.
Well, i was at a firends B-day party and i saw the ppl playing onf the DDR machine. I watched for a while then got back to the party. At the end of the party i went ot take one last look and there was a free game left in it. So i tohught to mt self "why not?" i jumped up nd started playing. Now, 2 years later, i play on heavy,
( When i first herd of ddr i tohught it was really gay!)
I offically appolijize for that!
The first song i ever played is Cartoon Heros _________________

I got myself into it... I've had DDRMax2 for about a year. Then last December, I decided to check out some DDR sites and videos. I also saw a few guys playing at the arcade. It looked pretty cool and I thought I would never be able to do that. I remember when I couldn't do 1/8 beats and I thought they were impossible! |
