E19.gif

I recently built a new computer. I bought the dance dance revolution for the PC for my wife for Christmas. Everything seems to play fine. When I pick the music, I can hear it and it sounds great. HOWEVER, then I start the actual portion of the game where you dance, and probably 75 percent of the time the music won't play. The graphics still show arrows and everything, just no music. I first thought it was a dvd player issue, but I created a virtual drive and downloaded the trial version and they do the same thing while playing off the harddrive. The game works fine on our old computer and laptop. I updated all the sounds drivers and firmware for the dvds. Any idea what is creating this problem? All my other games play great - Ughh!
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Here is the system I'm running:
XP Pro
Antec Sonota Case
3.2 pentium with HT
Abit AA8-Duramax Motherboard (sound built in by Realtek)
Pioneer DVD-RW 108 (most recent firmware installed)
Sony DVD-Rom DDU1613
ATI X700 Radeon Video Card

I don't know how to help you, the trial version works just fine for me, but I might recommend trying Stepmania and seeing if it does the same thing...

Also, for the guy who will probably be helping you *cough alpha cough*, it seems like you left out the one most important piece of info in your little list, the sound card/speakers/etc. To me this sounds like a soundcard issue or like something getting in the way of the tracks playing.

Either that or the disc is faulty *shrug*

The sound is build into the ABIT Motherboard rather than being a soundcard and is done by Realtek. The speakers are Creative 2.1 - nothing too fancy.

As for Stepmania, I have downloaded it, but haven't had time to read through to figure out how to add songs, characters, etc.
Thanks for your reply.

DDR PC is a waste of $
Take the time you're currently wasting on DDR:PC read the readme file about stepmania, it is so ridculously easy to add songs. it can be as simple at cut and paste ofr most of em. you could've dl-ed every song on ddrpc for nothin.

I Fixed it!!!!!!!!! I kept updating drivers for the sound, dvd, etc., thinking I needed something more current. However, just the reverse was true. I rolled back the driver one update on my sound and it works perfectly. I look forward to playing stepmania as well!
Thanks for all your help.
