Well, if you're an exception to the majority, then so am I. I (sort of) liked one anime show for a couple of months a few years ago (a very short phase that was only due to my newfound friends bringing it upon me), but I was never obsessed with it, nor the Japanese culture, and sure am not as of right now either. |

Here's another question: Why do people make these extreme stereotypes when they're nowhere near the truth?

Good ole' America...it's our culture to create stereotypes...every fad, crazy, common interest is bound to have a stereotype mixed in. Doesn't mean it's true everywhere. Take no offense. |

well, its true that most ppl who pla ddr like anime, but i think its the other way around. anime lovers seem to be attracted to ddr. like once i was at the arcade and i saw this one girl and she asked me, "do you like anime?" the important thing to remember is, just play cuz you wanna, or to show off. i dont know why, but i still always leave the machine when i see anyone wearing cat ears and a cat tail while playing ddr. it just scares me. _________________

I like anime. Only some of the movies and one of the mangas.
I hate it when people get all (with the mangas) "OMG YOU READ IT FRM RIGHT TO LEFT IT IS SO COOL BECAUSE IT IS NOT NORMAL OMGIT IS SO COOL AND INTERESTING THAT THESE BOOKS ARE DIFFERENT BECAUSE THEY ARE LIKE THE JAPANESE PEOPLEZ OMG LOLZ!!!1!1one0n3!1!2!h!."
I don't get why everything Japanese is so cool. Probably the marketing. But everything is supposed to be so exotic and multi-cultural when it features a big-eyes spikey-haired weirdo with magical powers or something who goes adventuring etc. Just because they have good anime doesn't mean that everything Japanese is now so mysterious and awesome. And now it's rubbing off. Look at Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. Am I the only one who happened to notice that Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi (perfect example) is an anime-ripoff based in Japan, about Japanese people. Which automatically registers in people's minds as cool. But, there is not one even remotely Japanese sounding name in the credits. Creator Richard Smith or something like that. Cast featuring Brenda Johnson, David Sullivan, stuff like that. How Japanese is it now? It sucks when people lower themselves and try to copy the Japanese and be like them? What happened to creativity?
Back to DDR. Anime and DDR are different. Some people might like both. Some might not. Either way not everyone is like the above examples. Note: I'm not stereotyping here, but I know some people who are like that. I can't think of any way that DDR and anime are related, minus some Japanese names and DDR's Japanese roots. So it must be a coincidence. Or maybe certain people are geeks like me who like anime and DDR, not because they are Japanese, but since they are both fun to play/use.

LoL, maybe the Gateway Theory plays into this? Try one japanese thing...which will then "open the gate" to more japanese things.
That's what I think happened to me...though I've grown out of anime. _________________

I like DDR, I like Anime, but they're two different things with me. Everyone's like "zomg, shez aZn and aZn are so good at didder" whereas it was my white friends who really got me into the game, and I have no such obsession with Japanese culture.
Everything I'm interested in derives from pure coincidence. |

That about sums it up for me. As far as their relationship to each other, its not relevant. If they were compared, whether I can spend $30.00 on an Anime DVD or play DDR 30 times, I wouldn't take either. I'd put the money in my pocket, and laugh at everyone who tried to make a decision like that. |

I like DDR and I like the Japanese culture, and I don't like watching anime, primarilly because of the anime cults. _________________
