What adapter?
I'd also like to say to all that I really don't know anything about adapters however I do know how to read the FAQ sync wrote on the first page. For those to lazy to look for it here it is. http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=89207&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=2 _________________

I downloaded and Installed Stepmania,
Downloaded and installed a song,
Downloaded and installed NTpad,
Went to game controllers,
everything was fine,
I went to Config and checked the thing with the (blah blah games like Dance Dance Revolution),
I went to button mapping, tested my pad, it didn't work.
I read the thing I was working with, and it said that I needed to go to Config and make sure that the Controller type was PSX Left analog, but that wasn't there. I was like, fine, maybe the thing is just messed up. So I went into Stepmania, and tried to configurate the controller. I wasn't exactly sure what to do, but I pressed the button for left but it didn't do anything.
Now, fix my problem and let me play Stepmania with my pad. |
Okay, so, today I'm like, "Okay, so, lemme try to remove this pad." So I went to gamecontrollers, clicked the controller thingy and it said, "NO. I'M SO EVIL, SO YOU NEED TO GO TO DEVICE MANAGER TO UNINSTALL IT. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH." So, now I'm freaked out, and go to Device Manager. I scroll scroll scroll until I hit Sound, Video, and *GASP* Game Controllers!
Yay!
So, I clicked the plus sign to the right of it. I notice six things. The first one isn't it, the second one no, not the third... not the fourth... not the fifth.. And, yet of course, not the sixth.
ERK. ERK ERK ERK ERK.
So, now wad'do I try to do? Do I uninstall or something the printer port? Or... like... what? _________________

Ok.. I have a couple questions.
I built a pad (wouldn't exactly call it metal, it has almost no metal) a while back, for Xbox and it works great.. but now I want to use it on Stepmania because I have a much bigger variety of songs there.
I am planning on building a Xbox->USB adapter. The process seems easy enough, only a little cutting, and soldering.
Will this work with my pad?
Also, the original place I read about this said I needed drivers. It linked to a seperate page on the site, but you have to be a member to get the downloads, and becoming a member costs money. Does anyone know what drivers I could use? _________________

Im not sure if this should go in this adaptor thread or the console forum but i was wondering if anyone had experience with ps2 to xbox adaptors. I have a MMB and recently got an xbox for christmas. Any suggestions on how well they work with ddr or if it will even recognize my pad for xbox live? |

I finally got my level six parallel adapter today (they had some sort of ordering screw up and didn't send it until the 28th or something).
Anyway.....I plugged it in, got the drivers from http://www.aldostools.com/dpad.html then tried it out with my Cobalt Flux.
The good news is that Stempania at least recognized the Flux as a pad with this adapter.
The bad news is that somehow something is broken, and so some of the buttons were stuck on. When I set it to use the joystick as an input, going through the menus is impossible because it just scrolls through on it's own.
I couldn't map the start and back buttons because whichever ones were stuck (I think Up and or Right) would always map to those keys when I tried it.
I plugged in a regular PS2 controller and had the same problem, so I figured there was either something wrong with the adapter or the driver I used.
I'm running Windows XP and I have a V2 Flux.
Any suggestions? This is my second non-working adapter, and so far I've been unable to play Stepmania with my Flux. |

I'm using the PS Vibration Feedback Converter and the Logic3 PS Dance Mat with StepMania 3.9 rc2 Windows.
The adapter works fine, except for the fact that I can't press up+down or right+left. I've tried the up+start+select code in various ways but it won't work. I've been told that you can't use that code anymore on the newest versions of StepMania. My converter isn't listed at the StepMania Pad Adapter Compatibility page, so I don't know what else to try.
Does anyone know what else I could try? Thank you very much in advance. =) |

Syncognition wrote: | well then it might also be a problem with stepmania and your system. make sure you are using the newest version of stepmania. pads tend to not work well with laptops, especially if they have lights or are metal pads, so you might be SOL until you get a different pad or computer. you also need a fairly fast computer to run SM with a pad. |
Posted on page 10.
Anyway, I was going to get a CFlux (adaptor too...) but thing is, my computer is 2 years old. Would it still run with the pad fine? (I can run stepmania, except for when I load it the sound becomes VERY fuzzed up...but it goes away after 5 minutes. I've only gotten this when I downloaded the new version of Stepmania.) I'll give system specs here..
Windows ME
Intel Pentium III
126 MB RAM
Direct X 0.9
IntelĀ® 82815 Graphics Controller
SoundMAX Direct Sound Driver
Yeah, i know it sucks. >.> |

okay, one minor problem...my sister bought me a metal ddr mat from frys today, and apparently its a DB9 Serial Connector (Female), and since my computer is upstairs, i cant play stepmania with it. so now to my question:
Are there any DB9 (Female) to PS2 converters out there??
If so, could you please direct me to the website/store that carries them?
Ill post pictures in a minute. _________________

I just recently bought 2 Ignition V3 pads...I think that's what they are called. I also bought the correct adapter, but when I play the right and down arrows don't always work. They may work at the beginning of the song, but later on they just stop working. Does anyone know what's wrong? |

I have a redoctane ps2 to usb adapter (http://redoctane.com/dualusb.html). it worked fine for a long time, but now whenever I connect it, a message comes up saying it has malfunctioned and windows doesn't recognize it. what can I do (besides buy a new one, I don't really want to do that)? screenshot: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v148/Meowzy/screenshot.jpg _________________

hey, I have just recently build myself a metal pad and got the superjoy 10 xobx adapter. The problem is that i took a circuit board out of a soft pad and use this as my controller. But when I play stepmania on fast songs for example (cartoon heros) a few steps into the song my adapter makes that chime that is dissconnected (usb) and will not trigger the steps i am so confused on this, i have the driver for the adapter for ddr, but it still does this, is there a newer driver out there or something any input would be great. Thanks |
