before we got a second arcade, there was just a regular group of people who go there, not many noobs. so we knew each other. if someones putting tokens if the machine, u just say, "can i go with u?" and theyll say yes or no.
but we got an arcade buy the waterpark in the mall, and when people r done swinning theyll think, "i might as well give that a try" so were getting so many more newbs and strangers at the waterpark arcade. i hang out there instead of the old arcade because its cheaper, and since its cheap people r willing to give up a quarter just to try a new game. _________________

*sigh* I've been dying for new competition. All the DDR gods around here are bored with DDR, so there that goes, and there isn't anybody around my playing level yet. I still ask people to tag along with me, but they all say (usually, anyway) they'd rather play alone. Next thing I know, they've got somebody else up there with them. Saddening, isn't it? I'm sure it isn't intimidation, because I'm a nice guy. So, yeah, whatever. I like being challenged. _________________

My friends and I keep a little log of who has most wins and grades and crap (I got my friends into it so I'm in the lead lol). In terms of getting challenged, I'm not too sure about. Yeah, I have some ppl from other schools who AIM me going "Dude, I could beat your @** at DDR." and crap like that. I don't really worry bout it though. I'm 13 (I look 16ish or so) and can beat a lot of highschoolers and crap like that. I just go and have fun. Usually they just ask if they can play a game with me, nothin' more. Up here we're pretty good bout just having' fun, and keep having a good times. |

The first time i was at an arcade was with my girlfriend. We didn't expect there to be a machine at this arcade we were there for other stuff (mini-golf). When i saw the machine i was excited and wanted to play. i went over and there were people in line, i asked when i could get in with my gf and one kid said he was running the machine and i had to beat him in a vs. to get on with my gf. I was rather annoyed because i wasn't really into it that much and just started standard. Needless to say the first song he picked was bag, and i got thuroughly owned, even on standard (he was on heavy). after words he was cool about it and let me play with my gf anyways, and told me he was messing around.
Since i have gotten alot better and now there are only 4 songs i have yet to get a c or higher on heavy on , unlimited, lom, 300, and for some bizarre reason i cant pass rythm police on heavy. _________________

I live in Montana so I dont see many people play DDR that are my skill level. That said I know there are regulars that go to my arcade that could crush me, they just go frequently enough for me to ever see one. I've only seen one guy that was my skill level and I asked if he wanted to play with me, none of that I challenge you to a duel crap just asked if he wanted to play. We played a few 9's and shook hands afterwards, introductions, etc... We didn't even bother checking to see who did better overall, it didn't matter we were there to have fun. With that said I plan to go into destroy mode at my upcoming tournament and likewise be destroyed. _________________

I've met some cool people after "playing with strangers"...I'm not that good but yeah, I agree that it's not a challenge with anyone when I play a stranger...It's just a simple hi, play, and thanks...Nice if you want to meet someone new. _________________

Happens to me 2 months ago in an arcade in Longueil :
After I've done 5-6 games of DDREX on Non-Stop, a guy(who supposely is the best of this arcade)come and challenge me. At this time,i was starting to play standard(i was able to do 5-6 footers). So we start,he choose heavy and i choose standard. He started with R&P. First i've done this song on standard and i failed....he pass with an A. I choose the next song and I took Max 300 but before i start,he says "Man,if you can do this song, choose Maxx Unlimited" So i took Maxx Unlimited, he switch to standard(i'm standard too) and i get owned...failed again and he passed with a C. Then he says "oh man,you suck!!!! Try playing on Light or something" Then i switch to heavy and i take for the last song : Drop the bomb (S.F. System remix) . I played a lot of times this song on my Stepmania and i caught the beat before i play. So we start...and he failed!!!! And i passed it with an A!!I was laughing at him^^
So remember kids : If a guy laugh at you cuz' you can't pass a song, choose your song on heavy or challenge and kick his a** _________________

I play with strangers every time I go to the arcade. But it isn't really "versus", its just two people playing at the same time. |

playing with strangers has led me and my friends down a path of depression and madness. One of my "friends" named frank usually scanned the arcade for girls so when he saw one playing, he jumped all over her faster than you can say Legend of Max. She turned out to be the worst thing that happened to us. She twisted hearts, pitted friend against friend, and she used her gigantic boobs to squeeze a few free games out of the arcade personel. Another time was at Nathans when frank once again and my other friend matt met two girls who were once again playing ddr. Frank got off easy but matt got stuck with a whore that cheated on him with a 23 year old. So far, my general consensus is don't go out with girls that play ddr. _________________

I was playing with somebody I didnt know yesterday. We started off with
Cant Stop Fallin in Love (Heavy)- We both got AA
Dynamite Rave (Heavy)- We both got AA
B4U Glorious Style (Heavy)- He got AA, I got A
It was a good match. He payed for my game against him, and I found out he goes there everyday! I finally have someone to play against. _________________

I usually play strangers all the time. They usually bring it up, since I don't like asking people much. But then afterwards, we get to know each other. _________________

I actually do it alot. Sometimes people want to challenge me, other times, they just want to play so they can learn how to, and not fail on their first song. |

I was on standard in 3 days when I first started, then 3 days after that I was on heavy.
People don't really challenge each other here in Ohio unless it's a tournament

I sometimes play versus against strangers, but when I do, it's a light player usually. It's very rare to encounter standard or heavy players at the arcade I go to. _________________

Most of the time, at the arcades I play at, people use versus mode to help each other out with passing difficult songs and the rest is just usually friendly contests between regulars (or people that ask). Strangers are welcome to join in, but they usually keep to themselves.
Hmm...it'd be interesting if people gave out challenges just like a character in a badly made martial arts film would. All with poor dubbing and cheesy dialogue no less. "Your DDR is weak! I alone can win. Ha ha ha." _________________

I play at the MIT Student Center, and on most Friday nights, it's just the normal Friday night regulars hanging around. We're all at different levels (of Maniac) and are achieving different goals on Single and Double, so if we go up and play with each other it really doesn't matter who wins because one person will S4R it and the other person will have it on 2x. If anything, we're mostly challenging ourselves since we all try to beat our personal bests on NNR.
Usually someone will play with someone else but sometimes we'll just go up one by one... no rush, no worries, since we're all friends and we hang out with each other in the meantime. |

The only time I've been challenged was like my 3rd day of playing, some guy challenged me. I won narrowly, but that was score based (we didn't know about PA or how screwed up scoring in DDR is). I know 2 of the 4 songs were Matsuri Japan light and Theme from Enter the Dragon light, don't remember what the other 2 were. |
