So, you correct my grammar only to spell "aren't" and "those" wrong? You must be trying to prove some kind of a point, right?
I'm pretty sure "Dance Dance Revolution Extreme Plus" is abbreviated in such a manner where it's implied that it might be more than 2 words. _________________

And he added a 'the,' implying that those are all of the options on said machine. DojoMaX, you get a B- in this English class. Tomo-Kun; F--. _________________

None of the arcade ops in the US wanted to buy a machine that didn't mesh with the long-going trend of arcade gaming - fighters and shooters. |
You forgot racing sims. But there is a growing trend of games that get a conventional control peripheral out of the gamer's hand. There's DDR (of course), and I've seen some boxing sim a couple times, and a couple skating/snowboarding-sim games, and some weird samurai game where you actually had to "stab and slice" people on the screen with a rod connected to the machine. With games like these, it would be foolish to pull out at that point.
ANyway, I'm thankful for the Megamix. Otherwise it would be so much harder for a lot of people to play DDR. It does suck that arcade ops are getting conned into "upgrading" their existing machines, but for those that got their first DDR machine Megamix or ExtremePlus, I'm at least grateful to.
P.S. where do all these pictures keep coming from? I loved that John Bono WoF one(not that it was appropriate) _________________

Initial D, Ridge Racer, and Wangan have only recently brought the genre back in the limelight. Back in the days of 3rd Mix, there really weren't any compelling racing games out there. Hell, the most advanced one for a while was Virtua Racing ... Davyinatoga wrote: | But there is a growing trend of games that get a conventional control peripheral out of the gamer's hand. This is why gun games are still successful, and while DDR is the new hallmark of peripheral-based games, I think Silent Scope may have been part of the turning point. _________________

Adding songs to a mix would cause a lawsuit with the artists in question.
Say you stuck a un-licensed song (for fun...we'll say that you put a song by Metallica on there) onto a DDR machine that is in a public place. If someone who represents Metallica or the record label, or about 3502938754 dozen other people noticed that there was a Metallica song on the machine, when said band was not being paid royalities and had NOT given their permission to place said song on a machine, you could get in serious trouble.
Hence why StepMania machines usually don't appear in public. I'm surprised the folks over at DDRUK didn't almost get their pants kicked off for installing a StepMania machine at a bowling alley with completely unlicensed songs ("Sakura Saku" by Megumi Hayashibara for one.)
Unless you own the machine in question, and you allow people to play for free on it, you shouldn't do it. (Period)
It's against the law and you could get some serious fines slapped against you. (Case in Point - The RIAA would eat you a new one)
Konami probably wouldn't do anything for the simple fact that if they went after bootlegged machines, they'd have to legalistically go after every DDR machine in North America. And that would be bad for them. _________________

ok....WTF!?
I mean, come ON! I dunno what to say about Megamix or King, But Extreme Plus...is just....ew. It's DDR programming manipulated by sick, perverted, amateur programmers! That "Slippery WHen wet" screen w/ half-nekkid sweaty black man is just disturbing
WHat would be cool, though, is if Konami made a DDR game like Extreme, but with almost every Bemani song imaginable......including DDR US home versions.....that would kick booty.

The big difference for me is that Megamix has no unlockable songs. One of the reasons I hate Megamix is that it's missing Last Message, one of my favorite songs. |

Some of the Megamixes don't work with the unlock code, true, but it's *some*. Most do, and they have the exact same unlocks as Extreme. _________________

I'd have to agree with cutriss. I have a Megamix at my arcade. It is absolutely the same as Extreme except for changes in the color of the interface. All the songs are there, including Last Message. And the Extreme unlock code worked to unlock the game. Somebody told Namco that these mixes were "9th" Mixes, so they bought a bunch of them. It's too bad that people that deal with the information can't make the buying decision for arcade games. |

Point 1 - Looks like sensors under the arrows, a la Solo pads.
Point 2 - Obviously Extreme US.
Point 3 - Blue select buttons?
Point 4 - Where was that counter coming from? I assume that was the video output from a token collector superimposed on the JAMMA signal? _________________

Yes. You can modify any DDR machine to run ITG. The changes in DDR hardware through the years are all internal - ITG requires you to pull out the entire computer and replace it with a different one. _________________

The blue select button are on these machines. _________________

I'm going to check it out in detail tomorrow and see what's going on....and why they don't have real pads. _________________
