ok everybody, im not sure if im the only person who has heard of this other than texans that there is a possible threat/sensation that will come about. it is a game called In The Groove. i have only seen it in Lubbock Texas, and im not sure if it is anywhere else in the country. its a rip-off of DDR and StepMania. it has all the ideas of SM including all the different mods, colors, ect.
here are some differences that i noticed:
1. the songs are 2-3 minutes long
2. there are the levels of easy, medium, hard, and most songs have expert
3. there is a bar at the top of the screen telling you how far through the song you are and has the song name
4. it grades just like a school grading scale (i.e. A- B+)
5. it tells you how many of everything there are from hands you have to use in the song to the number of freeze arrows, to the number of steps in the song. it basically lays out what is in the song by numbers instead of scales like in DDR
6. the life bar is on the side instead of the top
7. all of the songs are fast-pace and they threw out any slow songs.
8. there are mines
9. different arrow graphics
let me know what you think about it. i personally dont like it too much because i do not know the average songs and i missed my beloved DDR songs. please tell me if you think that it is a threat, accomplishment, or anything else you want to say. |

Its an accomplishment, DDR was dying last I checked, that and I havent heard of any DDR EX 2 coming out anytime soon. I play ITG all the time, most of the arcades in my town have one, the other, or both ddr and itg. So its not like we're losing anything. I really like the song selection, and the incorporation of hands and mines was cool. There are a lot more mods and a much better equipment system as well as far as the arcade machine goes. This and the fact that Roxor games is in communication with its game community to keep working on improving things to players likings for the next releases, make this a good game to follow in my mind. Besides, its a lot harder than ddr ^.^.
Just my 2 cents though. _________________

I agree with everything that's being said so far. It's an accomplishment. I like it for being a techies game. No freestyling song here.
I like that it's hard. DDR as gotten stale for me. More mods, harder difficulty. No complaints here. Last the nonstop mode with it's percentage mods. That's got to be the coolest thing I've seen yet.
When I played it I must admit that I was impressed. Enough said.

In The Groove is not DDR. It's not even Bemani. This goes in Other Bemani and Music Games. I bet there's already a thread there about it, too. _________________
