Ok I just purcahsed DDR for the PC and also dl'd Stepmania. The pad I got was from Fry's in a yellow box that says Dance Pad for PS2 for 30 bux.
I just cannot seem to get it to work right.
The USB adapter I am using is a KiKY x.series also purchased at Fry's. It has a picture on the back of the adapter hooked up with a konami pad.
so i'm pretty sure its good to go.
http://www.soyogroup.com/products/proddesc.php?id=193
anyway it seems as if the timing is off.
can someone just shoot me 2 links. One for the best adapter and 1 for the best pad for PC dancin'
i'm not trying to go broke so i don't need a metal pad just one the works like the arcade. |

Forget what I said again. I got it to work now but it seems kind of laggy an doesn't recognize up+down and left+right. It won't work on one of their own pads, which is kind of disturbing. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance! _________________

Sync's FAQ wrote: | now try holding UP+START+SELECT for 3 seconds or so (the code goes in instantaneously, but the 3 second thing is just sort of extra insurance). release that and press an arrow. now it should register as a direction and a button. go into stepmania and remap your pad.
My pad won't register double steps (up+down, left+right), what do I do?
1. download the newest version of stepmania and remap your pad.
2. try the start+select+up code, and remap your pad.
3. your adapter is lame. get one that doesn't suck....and remap your pad :0) |

Ignore this post, I found out that it was the pad that wasn't working (causing the random button presses) not the adapter... I plugged in a wireless dance pad into the same adapter with my first pad on player 1 and both worked fine... so I'm returning the new one I just got and hopefully getting a working replacement.
--original message follows (even though it's not really appropriate anymore)
Appologies if this question has been asked and answered before.. I tried to go through all 18 pages of posts... but only really skimmed most of the posts.
Anyways, my question is... Using the "Super Dual Box" two-PS2 to USB adapter for PC... is there a workaround of some kind which fixes the bug experienced by connecting a second dance mat to the adapter?
First mat works fine, however the second mat has random button activation constantly, making it impossible to use. Plugging in a normal PS2 dual-shock controler (like the one that comes with a PS2) still works fine in the windows game controler configuration screen. It's only when there are 2 dance pads connected that the problem occurs.
I'd really love to get a second pad up and running so we could have competitions here, however if one pad doesn't want to work, that kinda kills the whole effect now doesn't it? Especially if it's random button presses and you can't control what it's going to do....
Mind you, those random button presses would probably make it a LOT easier to finish tunes like Legend of Max *chuckles* |

Im not SURE of the appropriate fix for that problem, but enough people have had similar problems on the CF forums that I can point you in the right direction. If you are using a modern operating system, try using DurectPad Pro, PSX Pad, NT Pad, etc. They are located at http://www.aldostools.com/dpad.html
The problem sounds like maybe you need to disable/enable the axis if you cannot press 2 buttons simultaniously?? Hope that helps. _________________

OK, I have this really weird problem.
I have an EMS USB2. It works perfectly fine with my BNS metal pad, with no lag whatsoever or anything. However, I can't seem to get it to work with my Dual Shock (the original gray Playstation one). The buttons and controls all register fine, but for some reason every three to five seconds it stops registering and thinks the analog sticks are both down-right. Basically, this makes it almost impossible to play any real game. The pad works fine with my Radio Shack adapter, but I want to have vibration.
Any ideas? |

my computer is recognizing the arrows as analog joystick durection as opposed to being button presses. I think this causes the pad to not rcognize opposing arrow presses. How do i get it to recognive them as button presses? |

Okay, well, I have a parallel port... controller thing that I got with the BNS Xtreme crap yada yada. I also have Windows XP.
I downloaded and Installed Stepmania,
Downloaded and installed a song,
Downloaded and installed NTpad,
Went to game controllers,
everything was fine,
I went to Config and checked the thing with the (blah blah games like Dance Dance Revolution),
I went to button mapping, tested my pad, it didn't work.
I read the thing I was working with, and it said that I needed to go to Config and make sure that the Controller type was PSX Left analog, but that wasn't there. I was like, fine, maybe the thing is just messed up. So I went into Stepmania, and tried to configurate the controller. I wasn't exactly sure what to do, but I pressed the button for left but it didn't do anything.
Now, fix my problem and let me play Stepmania with my pad. _________________
