|
|
For some (including myself) C400 is simply not fast enough!
I was told that there was a way to add these speeds into stepmania! After searching through the stepmania files for about 30 minutes, I found out where to add these puppies in!
Its actually REALLY easy to do!
Step 1.
Open stepmania program folder
Step 2.
Double click on the "Themes" folder
Step 3.
Double click on the "default" folder
Step 4.
Double click on the Metrics file
Step 5.
Scroll far down the notepad file and look for the options section. You will see things like (Speed, Effect, Accel Apperance, insert, scroll. ETC...)
Step 6.
Find the Speed option, paste this at the end of the list, and change the numbers in front to the cronological order that it should BE
Speed,11=mod,C500;name,C500
Speed,12=mod,C600;name,C600
Step 7.
Change the number in red to the number of speed options there are.
[ScreenOptionsMaster]
# Player options
Speed=12
Step 8.
Finished product should look like this, NOTE, some themes use different ways of writing out how step 6 looks, if so, write the new C500 and C 600 just as it is in the list with the other speeds.
Step 9.
Save the metrics file, exit it and open stepmania
Step 10.
Open the options for a song you want to play, a popup will come up saying that it cant find option name, just click ignore. I never figured this out why it comes up with the error, i suppose something else needs to be changed. THIS DOES NOT EFFECT GAME PLAY! click ignore, then your speed mod should be a blank spot next to the official C 400.
Overall, works GREAT! As you can see!
Notes:
Any constant BPM should be able to be used, but dont go overboard and make a C8972 or something ridiculous like that
Speeds can also be modded by following the above steps by just changing the cooresponding info.
For however many speed mods you make, be sure to change step 7 to the correct amount.
Thanks to phat(fat) mat for letting me know this can be done!
Enjoy! _________________

Very nice indeed... i hated 4x they added in there to so i changed it to 5x but can you figure out anyway for that error not to come up? it does it every time not just once im sure its got somthin to do with the fact that it dosent show up on the options screen as say "C600" but instead a blank spot... very good tho... i love C600.. i also took out .25, .50, and .75 cuz i never use em. |

I was browsing around in the graphics folder, didn't see much there that dealt with option speed. I will keep looking though! It has to be a graphic file thats missing, or at least I think! _________________

i figuraed it out.. if you leave the second number the same and just change the first number it wont give an error. it will show up as .25 or whatever on the screen but it will really be C600 or whatever. _________________

Hey, dont you also have to add lines in the Languages/english.ini file that recognizes the mods you added? Lets say you added C500 to the metrics.ini file, your would have to add a line in the english.ini file (the section with the speed mods) that says: C500=C500
I had to do this with the latest version of SM, because if I would just add the line to the metrics.ini file, the mod would show up in options, but the option had no name. So to add a name to it, I had to add it in the english.ini file. I hope this makes sence |

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is what it is. They set it so that the arrows go a consant BPM, like 200 or 400. They're useful for songs that have lots of freezes or BPM changes or whatever, because the arrows stay going the same speed. _________________

C400 = constant 400..which is what everyone else has said.
Makes the song at a constant 400 BPM. And makes Sakura alot easier thus, in essence, making it a 9 footer instead of 10
Just like I think when I 5x bag, the song is an 8 footer and not a 10. |

This took a long time to find, Can we make it a sticky or add it to some FAQ/ make a FAQ about SM customization?
It would be greatly appreciated. |
