Umm, i know this is kind of off-topic but since that file you gave me showed me this.........
Ok, my windows media opens fine and everything, but it shows video files as if it were a sogn and i can here everything, and i see those colorful spirals and shapes and twists go across the screen. How do i make it so i can see the video? Anyone.

1. What exactly is the control box, and what does it do?
2. How much does the platform approximately weigh?
3. What does regular maintenance entail, and how long could someone expect a Cobalt Flux to last? |

1. As far as i know its exactly like the RO metal's control box exept it is solid black. And its delicate.
2. 38 lb.

The question remains, why not order the double pack? 
At least she didn't give you a carton of cigarettes and say "Smoke up Johnny!"
So...I had a marathon session the other night. I decided to open up Ultramix 1 so I could go back and do all the songs with my new Cobalt. I AA'd so many songs I had never even gotten an A on before. It was great. Now I have to work on UM2.
I highly recommend this pad to anyone thinking about getting a hard pad. It's worth the wait and the extra cost. |

Hmm, I repeat a few of my questions...
What does a control box exactly do? In other words what is it, more or less?
And define "long time"...a couple years? A lifetime, perhaps? |

ok, i ordered one of these already and want to know if i can store it vertically when its not in use. My parents demand that my basement be kept clean and im worried that the sensors might get screwed up if its propped up vertically against the wall.

It's an attachment that CAN be detached but is meant for hooking your pad up to the game system. You can not use your pad without one, it does not preserve the lifespan of the pad and only makes it so that is works and can be operated on the console.
Controller Boxes are most likley not going to last your lifetime, unless you keep good care of it.

Oh, so then the control box is meant as a bridge from the platform to the console correct? Is this so that if the connection is damaged, it can always be replaced unlike standard pads that are just plain cords attached to it?
And to elaborate on my previous question, I meant to ask if the platform lasted a lifetime, not the control box. Sorry if these questions are repetitious all, just gathering some info before I drop the obscene amount of dollars on this thing  |

Has anyone ever broken a CF pad? Also I remember that they used to have a lifetime warrenty, however that seems to have changed.

some guy apparently had a really thick carpet and it screwed up the sensors, leading me to this question...

As was alread explained, it is the bridge between the pad and the console. The pad itself consists of the base, the sheet metal panels, the Lexan covers, and the wiring for the pad itself. The control box houses the electronics to convert the panel depressions into signals recognized by the PS2. The point of having an external control box is ease of replacement - if the control box goes bad, it is a simple affair to replace just that component instead of having to replace the entire pad.

Regular maintenance for me has been a weekly dusting of the Lexan, followed by a monthly cleaning of the Lexan (to remove 30 days of sweat). I've only done two thorough cleanings in the year that I've had mine, which entailed removing the panels and cleaning the sheet metal contacts. The life expectancy of the pad itself... With proper care, I see no reason why the pad shouldn't last several years. The design is very simple with very few moving parts. The parts that do move don't move much at all, so they're not going to break. The wiring can become frayed if it is pinched between the panel edges and the base, but this can be easily corrected with a little electrical tape should it ever become a problem. The control box is the obvious exception to the CF's durability - it can go bad for any number of reasons.
Sorry to waste space answering already answered questions, but I thought it'd be handy to have everything in one post.

I'm doubting that it would, since the CF is pretty much a solid slab. I imagine that it would be worse. However, I've not tried the RO ignition, so I don't know. I imagine that hard pads like the CF will almost always be louder. |
u dont want 2 get the RO ignition if u play 9 and 10 footers
i had 1 and it waz a waste of money cuz my gamplay tore the thing up |

My friend uses his Red Octane Ignition to play 12-13 footers on StepMania and his pad is like new still.
