But, I don't mean music of course...
Nevertheless, I am confused as to which is best...Red Octane? Cobalt? BNS?
Is the Cobalt justified in being more money than the Red Octane? Should the Red Octane really be higher-priced than the BNS?
I'm new to DDR and wanna go all-out on the pad. I want metal. Just need to know the best, 'cause I am shelling out quite a few dollars...
I'm wondering, people who buy the Red Octane, what were they looking for in a pad which they felt they could not find in another one?
Thanks all!

There Are a few key differences between the pads. A Cobalt Flux if a Flat Surfaced pad, and the Redoctane/BNS are raised so you can tell if you are on the arrow or not.
Thing is CF makes more noise when you use it which isn't really a big deal. The Redoctane/BNS has a quiter noise factor.
The Sensitivty on all of these are Top Notch so I can't really recommend any of them over the other in Sensitivity.
Personally I have been happy with my RO except for the left wire is gettign severed, so If you can get around that then your probably set _________________

Actually it isn't blue metal. There is a blue covering on the metal parts of the pad (kinda like plastic wrap) which can be taken off. |

Exactly, take off the blue plastic and you have perfect silver underneath!
My RO has been flawless for a month now. The things that caused me to choose it over the CF are (a) I'm using Xbox, so no adapter required (I'm afraid of some of the aftermarket adapters causing lag), (b) it was $100 smackers cheaper, and (c) I LOVE my Red Octane Ignition soft pad, so I figured I'd stick with the same brand. |

Go to the edge of the panel and scrape with your finger nail. You'll make a little hole and it will start peeling up. Then carefully work your way around the edge peeling it all up. |

i have had my RO for almost a month, and just recently it started acting weird. in the middle of a song, a note will pop up in the middle of the screen and tells me that i need to reconnect the controller. so i tighten the control box and the plug-in that goes to my xbox, and after about 30 seconds of aimlessly stomping on arrows, the note goes away. my question is, why does this happen, and how can i fix this problem? _________________

During play your controller box may have gotten loose from its connections. That is all I can see that COULD happen; therefore, I reccomend trying to hold it together firmly before playing and if that still happens then I believe you should just try another way of getting it to hold. _________________

that makes sence, because it has been like that since i moved it from my basement, to the computer room, then back to the basement, all with out disconnecting the control box. _________________

I just want to make it clear to anyone who might be reading this that the pad DOES require some breaking in.
When I first opened it up on Christmas I was overjoyed to have my own shiny new metal pad, but I found that the sensitivity of it was far worse than my friend's comparable Cobalt Flux.
After administering a severe beating to the pad in the form of some legend of max runs, I found it to be a lot more sensitive, to the point where I could play with my socks and actually...register arrows. It seems to be getting better as well, and on another note, even with my continued slamming of my pad its still holding up perfectly. No sign of the arrows cracking anytime soon.
Still wish I had a cobalt, but I'm a happy customer.
Get back to you in a month on the durability. _________________

i disconnected my mat from the control box, plugged it back in and held it together for a minute, and it still disconnects in the middle of songs. and its really bothering me because it keeps me from getting more AAs on catas and getting my first AAA. i still have no idea what the problem is, and any help would be appreaciated. _________________

I have a peculiar problem. When I step on B it sounds like it's breaking. I know why it is, it's because of the thin metal between the two pads, but my question is it really necessary? I'm bent it so many times it's not funny and the brackets have spacers, so it makes no sense to me for it to be there. _________________

The RO or the CF which one is better overall. ive heard CF was better and i know sum things about it. but RO is cheaper but which one is worth it, the RO or the CF?

CF is better in every imaginable way. Bottom line - if you can afford it, buy it. They are worth every penny. _________________
