Does anyone else tweak/mod their own themes?

So far, no one theme has what I want exactly.

I found foonmix and started playing with it and have incorporated ideas from a few other themes.

The scoring page from itg3980, a general "feel" from foonmix, animations from techno fiend, etc.

Basically, I started today while at work (was bored):

I got the pieces where I want them. Just need to hop into Photoshop tomorrow and make them fit with the theme. Everything will pretty much blend in once I'm done with this area.

I took the hand "cursor" from the SSB theme. The text at the top will be done in english, with a background that spans the upper colored area (will be like 30-50% opacity).

Again, focused primarily on getting things spaced out and where I want them to be. Photoshop tomorrow will blend everything together.
Currently, I can not figure out how to change the number of groups displayed. Right now it's at 7, I'd like to bring it down to 5 but can't find the entry in the metrics file.

The rest is wholy unpresentable right now. I've cleaned out many parts of the theme that I don't like, but of course, I've only spent a few hours on this (hey, give me a break, this is my first time with the metrics file, I'm still learning my way around

).

Oo You made that? *lol you probaly said it but i was to lazy to read it*, thats sweet, anyways you know that in the options menu you can put it so you dont need to go to that "All music" menu and stuff. It just starts off with all music automaticly and basicly skips thats screen? Did you know that? just wanted to throw that in if you needed it. Like you said u wanted only 5 groups instead of 7. You where talking about that right? If so i hope this info helps....

Sorry if I'm hijacking your thread or anything, but I'm trying to see if I can't get an answer to some questions. Nobody seems to be reading the simfile help sticky, though.

I'm not sure if anyone'll see it here or not, either, but I figure crossposting couldn't hurt at this point.

Basically, is it possible to add a Beatmania-style genre listing to the select screen, perhaps involving the #GENRE tag? If not, is there a way to get the CD title to not spin that won't freeze the screen? Finally, is there a way to change the mods used for Extra stages? (maybe something like 1.5x Sudden Shuffle, for example)

I've been altering the metrics for the foreverbluebeta theme for a long time now. they are so general that I've had it work from alpha 7 to rc2 (though I can't promise they still work with A7 since I've done a lot of work on it since then). the theme was originally intended for stepmania version 3.0, so I just don't have some graphics or the will create them, but the skin is fairly complete.
