Hello...
Since I recently upgraded to DWI 2.49, I've been moving my courses into separate subfolders. I now have seven different subfolders within my main Courses folder.
My problem is that several courses are simply not showing up! This is driving me nuts. For instance, one of my subfolders is called "Dance Dance Revolution MAX 2 - Oni Courses". In this folder, I have 18 different Oni courses. Of these, only eight are showing up. I have checked the .CRS files for the problematic courses, and I can't understand what's wrong -- the path is correct, the folder names for the songs are correct, etc. It just makes no sense... eight courses in the folder will show up, but ten of them simply won't, and I can't find anything different between the eight good ones and the ten bad ones. And this happens in a couple of my other course subfolders, also.
Just to make sure I didn't have bad .CRS files, I tried sending a couple of the non-working ones to my boyfriend, and they worked just perfectly on *his* DWI (also 2.49). So that's not the problem either.
Has anyone else experienced a problem like this? If so, what did you do to fix it? Do you have any suggestions for me? *Any* help would be greatly appreciated at this point, because I am pretty much at a loss for ideas.
Thanks in advance. |

What OS you running? That damned worthless XP might be the problem..
Do you have your Oni courses in sub-sub-folders? If so, that might be the problem as well - happened to me a couple times, back when I was a n00b with Stepmania and DWI. _________________

I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP1, yes. But so is my boyfriend, and the courses worked for *him*. I don't think my OS is the problem...
And no, I do not have any of my courses in sub-sub-folders; they are all placed in subfolders, according to the directions in the new Read Me file for DWI 2.49. As I mentioned, the courses that aren't showing up are located in the same folders as the courses that are showing up, which is why I don't understand why they're not working.
And I know that DWI knows they're there. I looked in the Records for my Courses, and the dang courses that aren't showing up in Nonstop Mode *are* showing up in the Records! They have a place in there and everything. DWI just won't let me play them. Grr... |

Can you tell me how many courses are showing up, from the versions I used to use of DWI it would only allow 30 I belive.
That information would help me out.
Send me the course files text, maybe there is a problem in the coding.
I run Stepmania but I do not make subfolders for my courses, I just put all of the files into the folder titled "Courses" try that and see if it works.
This might also help out:
Courses:
When you download a course (.crs file), it will generally include the .crs file and the banner for the course. You must previously own the songs for the course to work. Put the course (.crs and .png) into the Course folder (located in the root). If the course still doesn't work make sure the path matches correctly by opening the .crs file in note pad. Make it so the directory looks like this (generally):
#SONG:(subfolder where the songs are located)\(song title NOT DWI FOLDER NAME):(Difficulty):(modifiers);
Make sure everything matches, if it still doesn't show your DWI might not match the criteria of the .crs file. Make sure the DWI has the correct difficulty and so on.

YAY! After tons of tweaking, I finally figured out what was wrong. For every course featuring an SMANIAC-only song (such as "Silent Hill (3rd christmas mix"), that course wouldn't work. And it's because, in order for a course with a song with an SMANIAC rating to work, that song must also have a MANIAC tag. But Silent Hill (and 18 other MAX 2 courses, I think) only had SMANIAC tags. I solved this problem by changing it from SMANIAC to MANIAC in each of the song DWI's, and also fixing the tags in the course files... then it worked perfectly!
I suggest that anyone who gets their DWI files from DDRUK try this, if you've been having problems. This is because DDRUK always puts the rating of a Challenge-course only song as SMANIAC in the DWI file, instead of MANIAC, which mucks up any course that the song is featured in. Spread the word! |

Good job you looked around through the code and found out what the problem is one your own.
I am glad that you didn't need to use my help. _________________

That's a dumb thing about DWI, but there is a way to get around it that Makou pointed out to me. I put as part of an answer to the Sakura question.
SIM FAQ wrote: | Q:I found all the songs I want and there all the full thing but the one i want the most.. SAKURA just wont work...it has all the files and its in the right folder but it just doesnt come up in my song selection....any ideas? im on DWI 2.40
A:Take a look in the DWI itself for sakura. You might need to make sure the code is correct. One reason why DWI's don't show up is because people code them to be SMANIAC and have no other steps. Then the program can't show them because it needs at least Basic, Trick, or Maniac steps. You can also add /showsm to the command line for the program, and songs with only S-Maniac steps will show up on the select wheel. |

You are "teh suxorz" for bumping a topic that's a year and a half old. Don't do that again. _________________
