The TX1000 is not *that* similar to the TX2000. The 2000 defenitely feels more stable and durable. If you have to choose, choose the 2000, even if you don't want a bar.
After 2 days at a con both our tx1000 pads broke down, because the interior solderings are pretty crappy. You can open them on the bottom by removing the rubber with a hobby-knife, and then removing the staples. Then you can take off the bottom, and have access to the interior, so you can re-solder the wires. After this, and modding the arrows with some sheet metal, they are pretty good.
I'm going to replace 1 arrow with some more durable material (polycarbonate) within the next 2 weeks, to see if that will hold a little better. The corners of the arrows on such pads tend to crumble away from the stress of constantly coming into contact with the screws and washers that hold them down. _________________

the best way to build a bar on a pad without destroying the pad would be to not build the bar onto the pad itself. Besides, the tx1000 doesn't really have room for bar :)
You could build a wooden frame that will fit around the pad, and build the bar on that. To me, that seems like the best solution. _________________

So let's say I bought this pad, would Metal Sheet Mod will improve the pads' life? If not - what else do I need to do in order to improve upon it?
How long this pad will last?? _________________

Looks can be decieving.
I'm thinking about getting one. If I do there's a good chance I'll mod it by rewiring it and reinforcing the arrows. I'm not going to bother getting the TX2000 as I don't use an bar anyway, so the strength of that isn't an issue.
I don't suppose anyone has some detailed guides for modding such a pad, eh? |

My advice to anyone who is buying a metal pad: Don't get this one. Or any one of 'em off of ebay for that matter. Just from looking at this, I know that it wont work. It looks like it was thrown together in an hour by a 9 year old computer nerd. |

I just moded mine. Sheet metal mod to be specific.
It works alot better... for the most part. My up arrow is messed up now and doesn't work unless stomped on. I'm Re-modding that arrow tomorrow. The sheet metal makes the arrows more sturdy (spelling?) and give a little better responce.
I wouldn't suggest buying one of these pads... ever
After the mod they are good... but its not worth it |

|
|
We've had two of these since Xmas and four people have probably combined to over 200 hours of heavy use in that time. The pads work GREAT, at least they did until yesterday.
One of the control boxes lost a connection to the right arrow. I know it's not the pad as when I swap out boxes the pad works. I disassembled the control box, but aside from jiggling around each of the wires plugged into the circuit board it doesn't seem like there's much I can do ...
Any advice?
If not on how to fix, then maybe on a good USA supplier. I found them cheap in Hong Kong, but they take forever to ship. Thanks. --t. |

In a strange and probably(?) related issue, at the same time as the control box died, our memory card had a corruption problem and we lost all the saved information ... could they be related? |
