Well, I checked again this morning (just to see if the status has magically changed, and fortunately, it now has info. It says it was picked up for delivery last night. Unfortunately, the delivery date just changed to next week, but that's ok I guess.
Now I get to begin the day counting like I've seen so many others do in the past. I'll try and do it silently. |

has anyone had trouble hooking 2 cf's into a ps1? when I hook in 2 cf's to a ps1 all the buttons autofire when pressed playing any ddr ps1 game in a ps1. the weired thing is, is that it only happens when two of them are pluged in, when 1 cf is plugged in all the butons register normal. I have tried 3 different ps1's and had the same results on all occasions. I have even tried different control boxes from other cf's. has anyone else had this problem and fixed it, any information would be very much enjoyed.

If this has already been asked you can all beat me up:
What are the dimensions for this pad? All I've seen so far is how thick it is. How long/wide is it? _________________

Hey, guys, I'm totally new to DDR! I just tried it for the first time last Saturday night, and I'm hooked! I might be getting a CF, so I'm pretty excited about it! _________________

I don't have any handy, but the layering is like this (from top to bottom):
Lexan
Arrow decal
Sheet metal
Velcro circles 1" in from each corner
Base sheet metal (base is one large piece covering entire pad)
Melamine coated MDF wood base
So, to answer the question, the velcro is what supports the panels. When you press a panel, it dips down to make contact with the base plate, closing the circuit.
are you kidding me?? that's it?? I can't believe anyone would pay hundreds of dollars for the same system people put in homebuilt pads. For 300$ i would at least expect some switch debouncers or pressure sensors, like in the arcade pads. what a rip. _________________

Cobalt? Red Octane? BNS?
Is the Cobalt justified in being more money than the Red Octane? Should the Red Octane really be higher-priced than the BNS?
I'm new to DDR and wanna go all-out on the pad. I want metal. Just need to know the best, 'cause I am shelling out quite a few dollars...
Thanks all!

$300 isn't bad if you don't have the time, tools, or materials to build your own pad. Honestly, I think a home builder could do a Flux-style pad for around $100 (I'll be starting that project soon). That obviously doesn't include the cost of a control box, but a passable one can be made for about $20. By the way, that $100 assumes that somebody already has the tools necessary (circular or table saw, sheet metal snips, awl, router, drill, acrylic knife).
And what good would debouncers and typical sensors do in a pad that has no top restraining layer (all the panels are secured with corner screws, not held in place with the typical corner brackets)? The Flux is built to be durable and, in this case, the durability is a product of its simplicity.
Is that worth $300? It was worth it to me. Having a single pad for nearly a year now and never having to post on a forum about problems with the pad, how to mod it for better response, or where to get replacement panels for the ones that cracked has been worth the initial outlay of cash. The control box crapped out on me, but by that point, I had already built two of my own and adapted an RO control box to work with the Flux, so I was covered on that end.
Obviously, everybody makes their own choice about the value of a pad, but let's not dismiss a pad just because the design isn't as feature laden as you would expect. If those features are unnecessary but the pad still gives you $300 worth of play value over a few years, then I see little problem with the price.
Of course, it is a lot of money, which is why I'm now looking into building my own so I can get into doubles and quad play. But I've never regretted my initial Flux purchase. _________________

This site has a PSX-to-Xbox converter for $17, and it even has the slot for a memory card / Live headset, so you can use that. _________________

An interesting thing about that BuyNShop converter... When you switch it to DDR mode, it pretends to register itself as a dance pad instead of as a controller. Normally, that'd be a really great feature, except that in the case of this converter, it does it on again/off again, flickering rapidly between the Pad and Disconnected icons in the Xbox Live lobby.
I have no idea how that looks to people on the other end of the connection.
I've also not tried a Communicator with it, so I don't know how well that works. But when I wrote to BNS about the issues I was having, they told me that the converter was not tested with Xbox Live. (Even though the site clearly says 100% Xbox Live compatible.)
I'm not saying don't buy it, I'm just pointing out some odd glitches. As a straight up converter, it seems to work fine. _________________
