at a few forums i've gone to... there is a quick reply option... instead of waiting for the whole new page to load before they type up a post they can just put it at the bottom of where the posts are... i think it would be easier than hitting the post a reply button and its very beneficial to people with slow internets. will you all take that into consideration? _________________

This has been asked before, and I think we shot it down because it tends to invite people to post without having read the thread first. _________________

oh i didn't know that.. i need to search >.<
but most people do read the topica because in order to post in the quick reply you have to go all the way down the page anyways. _________________

'Twas many a good idea that got shot down because of the stupidity of others, I'm afraid. _________________

To be honest, I don't think it invites people to post without reading any more than normal. It's just as easy to hit "reply" without reading as it is to do a quick reply without reading. |

i'll have to agree with cstarflare. on one of the boards I mod, we have quick reply, and for the most part, people reply fine. _________________

and plus it doesn't help that there is the "post reply" option at the top before all the posts anyways... then you really don't have to read it at all before replying _________________

Is there any real reason to do this other than 'because we can?' Even on a 56k connection, it shouldn't take more than a couple of seconds to load the post reply page. I'm sure anyone with anything worth saying is willing to wait a couple of seconds. It's never bothered me in the past. |
