Arcade Box TX-1000: Product Link N/A
MSRP: N/A ($90->$160)

This is a 3rd party pad sold on eBay and other small Internet shops. Arcade Box is listed as the manufacturer, but they have no Internet presence, so I'm taking the specs/details from one of the random sellers on eBay:

* Plexiglas Panel can hold weights up to 500 lbs
* 12 mm Wooden Base (first in industry) combines with stainless steel frame to provide virtually unbreakable & unbendable construction
* Extra STRIP OF STEEL is added to the inner edge of the frame to improve overall performance
* "One Screw per Panel" design provides easy maintenance and future upgrade
* Super Heavy Duty, can handle a person weights up to 500 lbs
* All buttons respond great from 'Touch Sensitive Technology'
* Unbelievable quiet playing comfort, no noise when jumping on arrows
* You can wear shoes to play on this metal pad
* Platform works on carpet or hard floor
* The entire platform frame is made of Stainless Steel
* Arrows are made of hard acrylic plastic
* Weight: 36 lbs
* Dimensions: 33" x 37 "
* Thickness: 1.5"
* All sides and middle are reinforced with Stainless Steel plates
* Direct power from PlayStation or PlayStation 2
* Compatible with all PS One and PS2 console models
* Separate Control Box included (please look for a white box inside the package)
* Built-in 5 feet long cable to be connected to PS / PS2 console directly

This pad is also known as the CypherGames pad, or the GamesDepot pad.

Regular price on this is $160 at PlayAsia but they have a special where you can buy them now for $110 including VAT if you live in the European Union.

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-88-70-2fh.html

It also comes with adapters for use with the PC and Xbox.

I'd recommend completely against this pad. Some guy bought one and was going to use it at a tournament on campus. The pad was broken the next day.

Hmm I just noticed something about this. If you look at the picture, namely the left and right arrows, they looked bowed up. Is there a reason for this, or am I just losing my sanity?

Yeah, they're really flimsy and are bowed up.

I saw a metal pad that seemed fucking familiar to this one/model and it could be purchased at ChannelBeat for $100.

Okay, you're all going to hate me.

Firstly, I received this pad out of nowhere. I was looking on eBay and opted for a pad similar to what I had played on at Fry's.

The seller sends me this near-piece of crap. Whoa.

I didn't feel like returning this after going through the guy saying this is the new "improved" stuff (yeah, NEW, when you take out the corner brackets for each fucking panel...LAZYASS).

So, the panels creak. Only if I've stepped too close to the edge of them.

Frankly, when I'm playing, my feet are at least at the center of the panels.

I'm also sort of lightweight; I used to weight in the 135s-140s, but now I think I need a diet since I've gained 15 pounds. >.>

Still, even after playing songs like Jet World Heavy, Drop Out Oni, it hasn't borked. Probably because I step light too and don't try to go crazy intentionally.

It holds up, but I'm going to look into acryllic panels.

Hell, even my 230 lb. friend tried this on Light/Standard and it didn't break.

The panels are sturdy, but what's holding them on the bottom of them is the problem. In fact, I'll take a picture of what's under a panel and maybe we can improve this pad so that the panel won't break.

Do not buy this pad, take it from a guy who bought one.

I bought the TX-2000 model with the bar. It's the same pad, just has a little bar to add to the back, which sucks. The bar is wobbly, doesn't stay in place and is completely useless. The pad itself started out okay. I had little problems with it. Day 2 arrives, and the pad is already breaking. When I hit my right arrow, it hits in triplets, like I'm hitting it three times. It moves ridiculously on carpet and sometimes it doesn't even register hits. When there is an arrow combination like up and then up+right, if you hit up+right both times (which some people do) it will only register the first time.

That's all I can think of right now. Avoid at all costs.

That's pretty close to wanting a candidate that's Bush and Kerry... in one Frankenstein-grotesque package.

yeah i just went and got my friends pad which is the same as the one critisized and repaired all if its self... and yeah it does suck, i play better with my modded soft pad ( soft pad stapled to plywood via border of pad edge ) the wiring is very light duty and is positioned in a way that if you press too hard on a panel it will cut them as someone else said. i got around this by drilling holes in the 3 " STEEL STRIPS " ( -.- ) and feeding the wires through those, and resplicing them. its hard to step on and isn't really responsive, looks nice, plays like crap -.-

has anybody tried a pad after the Carbon fiber arrow mod and sheet metal mod? I love modifying stuff so I was thinking about buyinf one of these and turning it into Frankenpad

Aso to the guy with stepping problems, I hear the sheet metal mod fixes this problem. I don't own one but I've heard. You can find a link in the Metal pad II discussion.

Since many people are denouncing this pad and I own one, I've yet to have problems. I found someone at another forum who had the 2000, and since 2000s are like 1000s, sans height and bar, he had this to say:

Quote:

I love my pad. It works great for me, I've had no problems at all. Yes, it can be noisy, but that's because of the slapping of one thing onto another. Do that to any hard surface and you will get that.

I will suggest not to play in socks because that is how I broke two of the panels. (I bought replacements obviously.) Shoes spread out the pressure of steps, and after starting to wear shoes I haven't had a panel crack and that's been for more than two months now.
