If they added a story to DDR, would it ruin the game?

I'm not talking about some cheapo story like Need for Speed. I'm talking about a deep story, like Metal Gear Solid 2.
So, do you think it would ruin the game?

hell yeah it would, mission mode is bad enough! I play DDR for fun and to get better at PA or FS, i dont want no pansy RPG-esque story in it!

Well, first off, I'd hate having a story. I think it'd drive ppl away from the game. Though, if that happened, and it become not so popular, it could become an underground game lol. I love being a part of a underground group lol. But, what story would fit a dancing game?

i had an idea this one time about a GTA Style DDR with alot of poopy story lines in which you could do alot of somewhat cool crap. i posted it but no more than half the ppl liked it. i'd look it up and post the link but im lazy. and i feel it wouldnt affect anything anyways.

Ummm... Actually it's been done. Tokimeki Summer Vacation 2
It has its own Dance Dance Revolution Tokimeki Mix inside the game.
I've played through it once. The story goes as such...
Basicly you have some time on your hands while school's out for the summer. Your friend comes over and takes you to an arcade where they have DDR tokimeki Mix(imagine that). She plays and she is the shiznibbles, and she gets your charachter hooked. She gives your charachter the home version(shameless product placement) so that you can practice, then all kinds of zany things happen.
It's entirely in Japanese, with huge amounts of dialogue- all of which I don't understand. You get a map with places to choose from where to go, and it seemed like I picked the wrong place everytime! You're working against a sort of clock; that is, you log the passing days in your diary. After a certain #of days pass, you end up back in school and the game is over.
I wish I understood the game better and knew what the hell to do with it, but anyway it's a DDR game with a story.

I think a story would kina ruin the game. Its funny to consider, but I don't think I could take it if one was applied.
